Fantastic Toledo Steel antique sword With Wire Wrap Handle Leather Grip
This is a very old and very long Spanish/European sword with a complex wire bale wrap for hand guard. I believe it is from Toledo. Spain made many years ago with a rare design to find on the grip. I have cleaned much of the rust or darkening oh the blade and it has good shine but with more work it can be really spiffed up. It has been around for years in an old Eastern barn and was found in good shape. The guard wiggles tightly but is strong. Good leather handle. A very heavy item probably too long for close fighting like boarding ships. Maybe used for cavalry where the thrust is done. There are scratch marks suggesting it has been used if only in practice. I am not certain it is Toledo sword but is like many I have seen. The grip and guard are spectacular and I have not often seen them listed. Toledo. For your consideration is a antique African tribal 3 piece hunting set. There are two hand forged metal pieces. Spear or lance and the wire wrapped handle. The handle has been carved to a point and fits into both of the iron pieces. It does look like the handle has been broken off at the end. The large metal piece is 23 1/2" long and 4 3/4" wide at the widest point. The sharp metal piece is 18" long the end is not sharp anymore and it is 1/2" wide in the middle area. The handle is 18 1/2" long and wire wound except for the tip of 4 1/2" and where is has come unwound in the middle for about 1" Nice 3 piece set in good condition for its age. This is a Vintage Metal Teapot marked MADE IN HONG KONG. It is a light copper color. I don't know what the metal is. It is light weight like aluminum or tin. The teapot has some scratches and dents. The bottom rim and underside have pit marks and need cleaned. The lid has a wood knob handle and the carry handle has a wood piece at the top.
