Please look closely at the pictures as it appears no reels have ever been attached to the rod(pictures 2& 3) However there are some marks on the some of the other sections of the rod. There is also a dent in the aluminum butt of one rod section that holds a reel(see picture 4) and an"Eagle Claw" badge is missing from the cork on the rod section that has the"Wright McGill" name/info. These were seen in the May 1988 Issue of Field& Stream These are very rare and were only apparently made from 1988-1990. You cannot find them anymore. If you let this one go. It'll take some time before you find another. I've seen a couple over the years and they were in pretty crappy condition. I don't know much about the dating on these. But even though they were sold in 1988, this one does in fact have 1987 stamps on it, so it was one of the first. My father purchased this for me in 1988 when I was only 5 years old. I do have vague memories of using it to fish with. I've kept it in storage my entire life since. Condition-wise; It does have some scratches and scuffs due to normal use. I found this vintage 1988-1989 Fisher-Price Children's Fishing Kit#3501 at an estate sale and the memories come flooding back! I had this same kit for my son 23 years ago. And even have a picture of him carrying it! He was born in 1987. This is a wonderful beginners fishing kit with instructions and"how to" info listed within the guide. There is another set like this on e-bay but it doesn't include the safety cap that goes on the end of the pole to put the line and hook in when your child is done fishing. Great way to not get hooked while carrying around the pole! This also has one of the bobbers. Hooks and sinkers that originally came with the kit! I don't think this set was used much at all. It is in mint condition and comes with everything you see in the pictures. The date stamped on the tackle box is 1987. It works ... moregreat. I was able to practice cast it myself and reeled it back in. The pole telescopes. Check out the last picture to see the full length when extended. The fishing pole attaches to the top of the tackle box for storage and portability. I have not seen any of these type of poles around since I had one for my son. Vintage Japanese Split Bamboo Fishing Rod Kit with Wooden Box
This is a vintage made in Japan Tokyo. Split bamboo fishing kit in a wooden box. One is a bait casting rod which is a 2 pc 5'5" long and the fly rod is a 3 pc 8'3" with 2 tips and a Olympicreel type No.500 reel. The rod and kit appears not to have been used if it has it's hard to tell as the reel has no line and some of the fishing gear is still packaged in Japanese style writing. The wooden case is in good condition except for one of the locking clips is loose and the sliding lids need some wax from being in storage. It was manufactured by Ueno Seiko Co. LTD Japan. It can be used as a 8’ three piece fly rod(with extra tip) or a two piece 5 ½’ casting rod. All sections measure 32 ½” The Olympic storage box contains the original decals. Introduction pamphlet, 20 hand tied flies, a bobber, leader holder, snelled hooks and an Olympic reel clothe. The six inch cork handle an up lock screw reel seat are in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section. There on the fly rod tips and two on the casting tip. There is a stripper guide on the bottom section. The bottom section and casting tip are not original to the other sections but fit together perfectly. Vintage Ol' Sarge Gun Rod 1940's Brass Rifle Pistol Cleaning Kit
This is a 1940's vintage Ol' Sarge Gun Rod brass rifle and pistol cleaning kit. The bore brushes are for.30cal(308. 30-06, 30 carbine, etc. and.45cal(45ACP, 45LC, etc. The rods are bigger then modern ones and will not fit.22cal weapons. The bore brushes are not marked, but I compared them to modern day brushes. The.45cal bore brush and cleaning brush are both made out of a synthetic material, I'm guessing nylon though I'm not sure what was used in that era. It is complete and original, it is in nice shape too. The wood box and brass do show some signs of use and age. It is great for any collection, you can't find kits made like this anymore. I'm listing these items for my father. He was going to rebuild/repair some of these rods(the bambo ones I think) but just doesn't have the time. Included is 7 of the 8 fly rods shown in the photo. The Fenwick fiberglass rod and tube is NOT included because he's using that rod now I guess. The other 7 which look to me like 2 fiberglass rods and 5 bamboo rods are included though as well as the repair/rebuild"kit" Which looks to me like more of just a collection of materials that he realized he would need through research and not a complete"kit" meaning you may need some other things, I'm not sure. VINTAGE ORIGINAL POST WWII 7 PIECE SPLIT BAMBOO FLY/CAST FISHING ROD KIT This auction is for a vintage seven piece Post WW II split bamboo fly and casting rod combination kit with original wooden storage box. There is“Vicki” decal on the box. The kit includes 12 assorted hand tied flies. Leader material, wooden leader holder, snelled hooks and a unique pair of scissors all protected by a plastic covering. The rod can be assembled into a three piece 8’ fly rod or a two piece 5.6’ casting rod. All sections measure 32 ½” There is also an extra bottom section. I would estimate the fly line weight to be a three-four. The 6 1/4” cork handle is in very good condition. The reel seat holder is slightly bent but it still mounts a fly reel solidly(see picture– the fly reel is not part of the auction) There is a dent on the side on the reel seat ... morewhich will not affect its use. There is a ¼” split on one of bottom section which also will not affect its use. There are two snake eye guides on the fly rod mid section and three on each tip section. The casting tip section has three guides. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct“pop” sound when pulled apart. All of the sections are straight. The wooden storage box is functional condition. It has some wear near one of corners(see picture) The brownstone colored cane and varnish finish are excellent. Check out all 18 of the full screen high quality pictures to fully appreciate this gorgeous rod. The casting action is awesome and this classic wand would be right at home on creeks.
