The rod was found with an perfectly matching extra tip- I didn't know that was available. Not sure of the exact vintage- The rod has a green color to it and that might help date the rod if you know vintage Scientific Angler fly rods. I think the rod is graphite but the only markings are Scientific Angler 9ft. 2 section Line wt. 5/6 The reel seat is stamped GRAPHITE G-16 The rod remains in EXCELLENT CONDITION with very light soiling on the cork handle from previous use. 100% original with no repairs on the butt section or either tip section. It was build in 23/08/2012 I built the ring beacause i didnt find in stores, it is made in aluminum painted black The rod has a parabolic action. It has a nice action. It has been used only a few times as you can see from the photos. I have a lot of rods(more than 50) and occasionally i sell someone. This vintage 4 piece FLY ROD has a decal near the handle that says"MONTAQUE_PER" with a Leaping Trout. The decal has some missing letters. The rod has two tips. One is a little shorter, the longer one has a broken eye at the tip. The main section of the rod has some damage around metal part where the middle section goes into it, but it still works. Kind of a grab bag of rod repair and building stuff. The nickle silver tubing is from my foray into ferrule building. Now I have done it. Too much work for me. There is also a punch set up for making end caps and a sheet of nickle silver. The photo says it all. But there are snake guides in the plastic packages, and tip tops in the other plastic. This fabulous"Hardy's" The Hardy Fly" rod is in good"as found" condition and it has not been restored or repaired by us. The rod measures 12 foot 6 inches. including the handle) in overall length. The butt and reel fittings are in brass, these have retained much of their original finish. It has"lockfast" joints. Which are a good snug fit, these too have retained much of their original finish. All of the rings are present and well attached, the top and bottom rings are agate lined, however, some do show signs of surface rust. The burgundy whipping is in good order and there is no crazing ... moreto the varnish but there are some small patches of discolouration. The top sections of the rod have a slight kinks or"sets" to the left. The rod does have a spare tip. The brass butt has"Hardy Bros. Makers, Alnwick" and the number"A16075" 1906) Just above the handle the rod has"Regd. Trademark Palakona" The hardy Fly" and"5" hand written in indian ink. The rod has its' original bag. The rod has a lovely feel when held. Well balanced, sturdy, and it has taken on a super depth of colour over the years. All in all this is a very nice. This is a very beautiful old SPLIT CANE BAMBOO fly fishing rod. It has THREE SECTIONS with an extra tip section. Assembled length is about 9 feet. The two tip sections are protected in a clothe sleeve in an aluminum tubing. The brown clothe bag has sewed pockets for each section and the tubing. The"MOHAWK" label is painted on the rod just above the cork handle and reel holder. This rod dates from the 1930's. There is no manufacture's label. But the"MOHAWK" name was famously used for many years by Horrocks-Ibittson, a large tackle manufacturer of days gone by. Excellent condition with no cracks in pole or eyelets. 1880's 1890's Victorian Barn Lightning Rod Weathervane Tip Point Farm Hardware
Here we have for sale a very old original lightning rod bayonet tip. The tip has the small 7/16" thread. The tip is a 10" brass bayonet. It has a nice looking bell style base. This style is attributed to Reyburn Hunter Co. and Smith- Hewitt as well as others. Has old black patina and maybe gold finish? Tip is in good shape. Not resharpened and she's not bent up. This is a great lightning rod tip and this 1880's- 1890's stuff aint easy to get anymore that isn't deteriorated away.
