DEEP SEA FISHING ROD 70 & 1/4 INCHES LONG WITH 4 PULLEYS INCLUDING THE TIP
I bought this rod at an estate auction. And I don't know how old it is or the name of it. I took pictures of the rod from the handle end to the tip, and picture number 6 is where the name was, so maybe that's enough to help you with the name of it. The Tip of the handle end must of had a cap on it, which is missing, I'm thinking it was just a plastic cap anyway, and if I was going to use the rod, I would leave it like it is or put a little tape on it/ The rod measures 70 and 1/4 inches long, has three pulley for eyelits, and an end pulley, which reads ALLEN. The rod id in good condition, all the pulleys are tight. I will mail the rod in a tube for safe mailing. Sorry, because of the length, there will be no International mailing of this auction. Up for auction is this unused vintage J.C. Higgins(Made in Canada) 9-foot 3-piece split cane fly rod with a spare tip and soiled rod bag circa 1950’s or 1960’s. It has suction joints. A hook keeper, orange and black wraps on the guides and ferrules, a stripping guide and the rest are snake guides. It has a screw-down green metal reel seat and the cork handle measures approximately 6 inches. I would guess that this rod was designed for a 5 to 7 weight fly line. Wright McGill Granger Victory GV8642 8 foot 6 inch 3 piece 2 tip Bamboo Fly Rod
You are bidding on a beautiful used original Wright McGill Granger Victory GV8642. Beautiful rod ready to fish. The rod casts a WF5 or DT6 fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length with exception to one tip that is short by 4 inches. Straight as an arrow, reel seat functions and is like new, ferrules are perfect. If you want an 8.5 footer to fish this is it. All the wraps look great. The cork looks and feels new, with some slight dirt from honest use. I tried to portray this in the pictures. Varnish is really nice. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. The cardboard rod tube is in really nice shaped. With only a couple spots missing paper, see pictures. The 8 ft 6 inch length in my opinion is great for the fisherman out there. Rather than the collectors. Let the collectors keep paying way to much ... morefor the shorter rods that don't have the length to high stick or mend the way a fisherman needs to catch fish. The shorter rods, may cast a little better, but I would be willing to bet these longer rods catch more fish, since you have the length to maneuver the fly. This rod will cast a dainty dry or weighted wooly bugger no problem. Don't you want to be the guy on your fishing trip this year showing off what what an OLD Granger can do? This rod will be expertly packaged and shipped insured to your location. I am an honest seller. And my goal is to put these rods and reels back on the rivers and streams to be used rather than collect dust. Fabulous 1933 Hardy's Palakona Bamboo Fishing Rod, 9 Feet, Extra Tip - Very Nice
Welcome to Carousel Collectables memorabilia auctions. Title: Fabulous 1933 Hardy's Palakona Bamboo Fishing Rod. 9 Feet, Extra Tip- Very Nice, This rod came to us from someone who had inherited it so we don't know about its history. Unfortunately I am not a rod collector or expert so I will just describe it as best I can. Please email any questions. It is a Hardy's Palakona. Labeled"The Economy Rod" The serial number is E27316 which my research tells me means it is from 1933. The butt is marked"Made by Hardy Bros. Ltd. Alnwick, England" There are three sections, each about three feet long, plus a spare tip section. The keepers are still in the ends of each section. It is in excellent condition. All the ties are tight, the cork handle has some markings but it appears quite likely this rod has never fished. The ... moreties are red although they appear darker in the photos. There are some flakes or flaws(I'm not sure which) on the bamboo finish which I have photographed. It comes in what appears to be the original cloth bag which has several large rips and is virtually useless. The rod will be shipped in an aluminum rod holder which does not appear to be original(it is U.S. but is older and will provide good protection. It is not heavy but because of its size and shape. A rarely encountered H. S. Pinky" GILLUM bamboo fly fishing rod. Cane. Bamboo rod is: GILLUM: nine foot. Two Piece, Two Tip rod. Original Gillum tube with decal, rod bag? not sure if bag original, but came with rod when I originally acquired. I never had opportunity to meet"Pinky" Gillum. Two individuals who I knew and respected. Harry Darbe and Marty Keane, had told me that it was a mark of Honor to own and Fish a Gillum rod. Over the years I have encountered and actually held and flexed only six Gillum rods. Gillum rods are that rare! Considering that less than 2000 Gillum rods were ever produced. Accounts for me not encountering that many. I was seeking a Bamboo rod to fish the Upper Delaware River system. Needed a stronger actioned rod capable of reaching out to Trout that always positioned themselves. Ten feet beyond comfortable ... morecasting range. Located this nine foot Gillum rod. Rod was usable, but I realized that varnish was not intact. Not wishing to damage rod by subjecting to water exposure I had my friend, the renowned Bamboo rod Rod maker, bamboo rod Historian and Restorer, George Guba, restore my Gillum rod to'Like New Condition' After Restoration. Rod looks New, I found that I was hesitant to fish the rod. I am aging, and I fall more often while wading. It would pain me to cause any damage to such a beautiful, rare and Valuable fly rod. H.S. GILLUM rod is a Two Piece. Nine foot rod. The rod is Stamped with the" H.S. Gillum, maker" marking on it's uplocking Reel seat( see pictures) Up locking reel seat has( I believe to be) African Mahagony wood spacer. Rod is wound in tan silk with black/cream/whitish? tipping, Just Beautiful. All sections are intact, NO invisible mends or wraps. All sections display the Visible Glue Lines, Gillum rods are know for. Rod has serial# on all three sections. Gillum rods should be considered'Custom built" For he was not know to follow patterns. Great Sage Z-Axis 490(9 foot fly rod for 4 wt. line) 2 piece that has the very tip broken off. The rod was given to me a few years ago. I believe it was a demo rod from a shop in Montana, therefore it has no warranty. i think Sage will repair these rods without warranty for $100 or so. A guy(or gal) could epoxy on a new tip-top guide and the rod would probably cast just fine. I haven't got much use for the rod these days and could use a few bucks to help fund the next fishing trip. NO RESERVE AUCTION You are bidding on a beautiful like new original Wright McGill Granger Aristocrat GA7633. 7 ½ foot, 3.75 oz. 3/2 bamboo fly rod. 3 pieces with 2 tips. Made between 1947 and 1952 and super rare especially in this condition. It looks as if it were only fished a few times. Includes original cloth sack in great condition and the original aluminum tube in really good condition. The rod casts a Cortland 4 weight DT Sylk fly line beautifully. I have this same rod that I fish with and it handles 4-5 lb fish easily. All sections are equal length. Straight as an arrow, reel seat functions and is like new, ferrules are perfect. If you want a 7 1/2 footer to fish or put in your collection buy it now cause it won’t last long. All the wraps look great. The cork looks really good with only some dirtiness from honest use. Varnish ... moreis really nice with only a couple minor flaws from use and starting to turn darker from age. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. This rod. For those that don't know is positioned as an upper mid-grade rod and used bamboo that was not quite good enough for the Registered and Deluxe but better than the Special, and way better than the Victory or Champion. The 7 ½’ length makes for a great little rod on smaller spring creeks capable of handling fish up to 4-5 lbs. It's pretty light, impressive. Don't you want to be the guy on your fishing trip this year showing off what an OLD Granger can do? This rod will be expertly packaged and shipped insured to your location. I am an honest seller. 3 piece 7 1/2 ft. Bamboo Fly Rod With Reel and extra Tip, I bought this old fly rod at an estate sale. I don't know much about these. I will tell you what I know. The handle is tight. The threads are good and hold the reel tight. Two eyes are missing from the center section and there is a wrap of tape. I have no idea why it's there. When I bend the rod it does'nt give and is not broke. All the the other eyes are good and not bent. All the wraps are good. The ferrels slide good and are tight. There are two tips. The reel is in good shape and works as it should. The rod and the reel are not marked. Under the mount on the reel it says Japan. Comes with the fabric sleeve for the rod.
