Vintage Tip-Top Railroad Bread shipping Chest. Pick-up only! Tip-Top Bread. Was used to transport loaves of bread on the railroads. Unique wire and wood construction. Lightly marked TIP TOP BREAD on back and LYNCHBURG STEAM BAKERY. LYNCHBURG VA. 1387 on one end. Other end and front may have been marked, just faded out. Corners are metal, metal hinges, rope handles on each end. Metal closure has a turn on it to tighten. The paint has faded, but letters could be traced and repainted. Box is dry and solid, redish brown with light green. Great for storage chest, or decorating country kitchen or porch. Numerous possibilities and you will preserving part of Virginia History. Wonderful and very rare. Original, 1860's Albumen CDV Photograph of the"Tip Top House" an early Hotel at the very summit of Mount Washington in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This fantastic photo measures approx. 3 1/2" by 2 1/8" and is mounted on its original, square corner, gold ruled border photographer's Card Mount(overall size 4" by 2 1/2" The Image pictures the early. Flat roofed, natural stone Hotel built atop Mt. Washington to compete with the other Hotel located on the Mountain- The Summit House. There are a number of people seen on the roof of the Hotel and on a rock pile nearby. At the lower right hand side of the Image one can see the roof structure of the Summit House. The CDV carries the mark of the Photographer- Bierstadt Brothers of New Bedford, Massachusetts- on the reverse along ... morewith a printed title that reads“Summit of Mt. Washington, White Mts. New Hampshire. Although the Image is not dated, the style of the card mount dates the Photo to the 1860's- we also know that the flat roof of the Tip-Top House was replaced with a pitched roof sometime before 1865. Tip-Top House was erected on Mount Washington in 1853 to compete with The Summit House. A nearby hotel established in 1852. Built by Samuel F. Spaulding at a cost of $7000, The Tip-Top House was made of rock blasted from the mountain. On clear days, a telescope was placed on its flat roof to create an observatory, although in the early 1860s, the flat roof was replaced with a pitched roof. Beginning in 1877, the building functioned for seven years as a printing office for Among the Clouds, the mountain's newspaper. When the newspaper moved to a different location, The Tip-Top House was abandoned and fell into disrepair. A three-story, 91-room hotel was built atop Mount Washington, together with a weather observatory. All of these buildings were destroyed in the Great Fire of 1908, except The Tip-Top House, which was renovated to function again as a hotel. When The Summit House was replaced,

WASHINGTON and the bowl of the spoon depicts Jacob's Ladder Mount Washington which is the old Cog Railway or railroad steam engine train crossing over the Jacob's Ladder trestle bridge. The Cog RR train still runs up and down Mt. Washington today, which is the highest peak in New England. This is a dainty little spoon measuring 4 1/4" long. You are bidding on a vintage rare Garcie 5 1/2' Model B520D Musky Taper fishing rod. Label reads B520-D 5 1/2' very heavy action. Musky taper 1 3/4 to 6 oz. lures 17-50 LB line. Never used. I did put a fishing reel on at one time but never used. Has a couple of scratches on the tip of the pistol grip from laying against the wall. The original canvas bag in great shape but labled as a Model B520C instead of D. Was purchased from a friend whose father passed away. He was a collector of vintage guns and some fishing rods. I do not know much about this piece so please ask questions as I will be happy to supply more photos and answers. The back story is that my father was a collector of railroadiana. As it was nostalgia from his days as a Gandy Dancer during the summers of his college years. Our next door neighbor was a switch yard Engineer for C&NW and he would bring old scrap pieces home to my Dad until the neighbor died in the mid 1960's. That is how we came into possession of some of the rail pieces we have online. The Patina on the whistle is original. It has not been touched with a brush or any polishing agents. This Whistle has no arm or aperture for activating it, it my have at one time, but long before we(my family) got it, that hole was closed with a plug. The whistle looks like it was activated fruther down the steam line that fed it. We are now offering our extensive personal collection of Peanuts and Snoopy Comic Books. Including many early issues going back to the 1950's. These have been collected by us over the last 40+ years, and kept in storage until now. Many of these items are rare and HTF especially those in their excellent unused condition. They are now being offered at a fraction of their value. This is a Peanuts Snoopy early comic book"TIP TOP" 184 from United Feature Syndicate Comics in January-February 1954. One of the earlier appearances of Peanuts in a comic book. The Peanuts section is on 2 pages, and are pictured. Note the very early style of the Peanuts Gang characters. The rest of the comic book contains other United Feature Syndicate comic characters- Nancy, Captain and the Kids, and Tarzan. The comic book is complete. I believe the octagon shaped case is made of nickel plated brass which is in excellent condition. It does have a slight scratch above the 12. It has a sunken seconds bit. Dial is approximately 1-1/8 in diameter. Dial is marked Tip Top Traveler. Circa 1920's. It measures approximately 1-3/4" high with the bow up by 1-3/8" wide by 13/16" deep.
