UP for sale is a vintage Abu Ambassadeur 2500C fishing reel. This reel comes with its leather case and the ABU oil bottle. The out side of the case is in good condition but the inside needs some repair. Please see Pictures. Serial# 770100. It is in good working condition and in good cosmetic condition. The only thing that i see is a small amount of boat rash. It is made in Sweden. If you have questions. Just ask and thanks for looking. VINTAGE ABU DELTA 5 FLY REEL Made in Sweden This is in superb condition. With no corrosion nor excessive wear. In fact the reel seat is pristine, showing no scuffs or scratches. The pictures are the very best descriptors of this great old reel. The first A.B. U rfabriken fly reels were initially called Records and then later named as ABU reels after 1966. Like all the other A.B. Ufabriken reels. Most originated from the Record name then progressed to the ABU name with further identifying subtitles. Some were badge engineered from other manufacturers but not in this case. All original design and engineering. With the fly reels, there were 3 types of Record produced(Standard, Precision and Double) before the Delta series appeared in 1966 to 1979 and then finally the Diplomat series from 1977 to 1988. The Record Standard was produced by ABU ... morein the guise of both the Delta and Pebco(Model 5) branded models. They were identical in performance and specifications. Up for your consideration is a fine example of an Ambassadeur 5000C De Luxe. This reel is in excellent shape with just some minor rubs on the sideplates and a touch of paint loss on the rim. The gold plate is bright and shiny. Based on the serial number this reel was probably made in the early to mid 70's. Someone has changed the handle at some point. It has a mag brake kit installed and the thumbrest is also included. The reel cranks smooth. The spool spins freely, and the drag is strong. That said, this is a used reel and is sold as-is. 1962 Garcia Fishing Annual Catalog ABU Ambassadeur Reel Book Old Fishing Tackle
This is a lot of 3 fishing catalogs from 1962. They have fishing articles as well as new products and prices. Both Garcia books are copyright 1962. The first book with the bass getting ready to jump has a good spine. There is a piece of tape at the bottom going from front to back. Pages seem to be tight. Pages are white with no folds or creases. Order blanks are still in the back of the book. Second Garcia book has a good spine with only a 1/4" peel on both the top and bottom. Pages seem to be tight. They are yellowing and have creases from front to back on the lower right corner. If looking at the picture you can see the creases on the cover. order form page is there but is tore from the seam about 2" from the bottom. Fishing Tackle book. Spine has issues but pages are tight. The whole book is yellowed and the front cover is missing ... morepieces. There is also a coupon cut out of the book( see pic) If you have any other questions. Please ask. Ambassadeur 9000 in red manufactured by ABU in Sweden. The reel foot nr is 090600. Which represents a bit of a mystery to me. According to the usual interpretation of Ambassadeur lot numbers issued between 1964-1969, this would indicate a production in September(09" of 1966(06" This appears strange because the Ambassadeur 9000 was first introduced to the Swedish market in 1969(see page of Swedish ABU catalogue from 1969) In any case. This is definitely the first version of the Ambassadeur 9000 as indicated by the last 2 digits"00" of the foot number. In fact, this reel is probably one of the very first Ambassadeur 9000 ever produced. The reel is accordingly equipped with the"pancake" style handle. The reel comes with the original. Earliest version of the box(the lot number printed on the box matches the reel ... morefoot number) protective leather bag, tool, rod mounting kit, full spare parts tube, oil bottle and manual. The reel is in like-new condition. The reel is equipped with the automatic 2 speed retrieve(shifting between gear ratios 4.2:1& 2.5:1, shifting to lower gear if resistance exceeds a threshold) re. the production date. September 1966 as suggested by the lot number seems to be correct. Obviously, the 9000 was introduced to the American market already in 1967 and assembly of the first reels started in the fall of 1966. Vintage ABU Record Ambassadeur 5000 MOD SG reel (1952)
ABU Record Ambassadeur 5000 MODEL SG(Sfaeriska Glidlager" = spherical bushings) in very nice original condition. The reel has been lightly used and there are a few nicks on the rims(see pictures) The reel does not show any corrosion and works perfectly mechanically. The reel has the typical dark-red color of the earliest Ambassadeur reels. The MODEL SG reels do not have a number on the reel foot and come with all-grey spool and starwheel brake. The MODEL SG is one of the earliest versions of the Ambassadeur reel and the initial deliveries were made late in 1952. The reel then made it's"official" debut in the 1953"Napp o Nytt" ABU's Swedish catalogue. The"MOD SG" engraving on the left side plate was then dropped after a short time which makes those reels very rare and special. The reel comes with ... morethe original leather etui. Also in very good shape, full spare parts tube. The characteristic Record oil tube, tool and manual.
