Glass eyed, 3 inch red painted wood body No.150 Dowagiac Underwater Minnow Fishing Lure was made by the James Heddon's Sons Company of Dowagiac. Michigan. I believe it is circa mid-teens. This lure is in a red paint finish. With three hand painted gill marks, and with props marked"Heddon Dowagiac" in script. The lure has scuffs and scratches and some cracking in the paint. Not sure if the hooks are original. Looks like there is a small chip near each end of the lure. Given its age. A nice addition to your collection! Vintage South Bend Bass Oreno Fishing Lure Underwater Minnow Item is a vintage collectible South Bend Bass Oreno fishing lure. This lure is the underwater minnow. I believe it to be part of the 900 Series. Lure is about 5 1/4 inches long total. Body is off white with red head. Nose is pointed. Glass Eyes have a shiny gold look to them. Then the white iris, then black pupil. There are 5 treble hooks, all in good condition, no rust. There are two propellers, in good condition. Both are engraved: South Bend. The white body has a some crack markings and some white spots on the top of the body. The paint is missing on the plug on the bottom of the lure and there is small spot near the plug with a chip of paint. I would say the overall condition of this lure is very good. Here is a Pflueger GE 3T Underwater Minnow. Rare Perch, Gem Clip Hook Hardware, makes this a Wood box Model circa 1908. I researched this lure with some experts and they told me the Perch without the scales is a rare color and the larger cups around the hook hangers, the unmarked floppy props dated it to around 1908. The glass eyes are perfect, the lure is not perfect but not bad either. The props and hooks are uncleaned as I found it years ago, I was hesitant to clean it but it should clean up nicely. I hate to let this one go but I need to get rid of some lures. I am selling off the large majority of my collection due to health except my crazy crawlers so look for more to come, reels, rods, lures, bamboo fly rods, tackle boxes, etc. I will combine shipment if you let me know you intend on bidding on more than one. Early Folk Art Spinner / Single Hook Glass Eyed Underwater Minnow Unknown Maker
This early. 2-7/8" body alone) neat, nicely crafted old underwater minnow has a very pleasing look about it and the red painted fluted blade adds character. Probably inspired by the early Heddon Artistic, the spinnered Harkauf and similar lures of the time by other companies. The brass line tie wire is fixed and I believe"leaded-in" by the belly weight. So also I feel for the fine wire hook hanger. Exhibits a nice old patina. This unusual 3-hook minnow has an unusual shape and unusual variation of rainbow color- so I cant tell if it is a model made by regular makers like Heddon or Pflueger or a trade minnow of some sort. Has sort of a sway belly and cup hardware that resembles Heddon wood box models. But glass eyes are smaller than usual and props are unmarked. One glass eye has a crack the other looks fine, slight chipping at the tail and some very slight age cracking to the paint. Offered is one Vintage. New Old Stock, Shakesphere Wooden Lure- three 3 hook, Single end spinning, paw paw underwater minnow#3300 series lure? We acquired this item from the stock room of an old sporting goods store located in upstate New York in 1995. Original paper box has#3307 located on one end. This is the box it came in- we purchased a number of these same types of lures. Each of which came in the same box types. There is some box wear to the lure, resulting in minor paint loss. Bottom area, where weight is located, has some paint loss. Spinner has no Shakespeare logo stamping that we can detect- spinner may need to have surface area cleaned up a bit to remove old metal surface covering. From my research on the web I found this information about this lure: I have several of these lures listed and will have more today and tomorrow. They are all very old. Winchester Repeating Arms Co. This famous gun maker from New Haven. Conn. manufactured quality fishing tackle for a few years during the late teens and early 1920s. The Underwater Minnows featured a distinct rear propeller. This finish is referred to as"parrot" among collectors.
