Here is a Very Rare Shakespeare fishing lure. This is a five hook Slim Jim lure with see thru hook Hardware. The wood body measures 4 1/2 inches long. I was told this lure was only made for 3 years. From 1921 thru 1923. Shakespeare stopped making them and only made the big#44 Underwater Minnow after that. Very Neat Slim body style underwater minnow I would guess they made for Pike and Musky. RARE VINTAGE 1904 SHAKESPEARE RHODES WOODEN MINNOW WOODEN FISHING LURE BOX
For auction is one of the holy grails of fishing lure collecting. This is an original early 1900's wooden lure box. It is empty. There is no lure, this is BOX ONLY. This great 2 piece wooden box has dovetailed corners and a sliding lid. The top label on the box lid is a red ink stamped mark. On one end is the original paper label for the lure that came in the box. This lure was for: Rhodes Wooden Minnow Pat'd feb. 5 1901/ Dec. 13 1904 Red and White Number 33RWR. The box is in good overall condition with normal wear and original petina. This box was always kept dry. There are a few stains, a corner missing on the paper label, and a couple small slivers or chunks missing off one end of the sliding top panel. I have taken photos of the damage on the box. You are looking at a Vintage Shakespeare Paw Paw lure made in Hong Kong. It comes with the box and on the side is printed: NO 3706. The lure measures approximately 3 inches in length and is in really good condition. The box is not in the best of shape but I wanted to offer it with the lure. This came from one of my Uncle's Sears Craftsman Ted Williams tackle boxes. He can no longer fish because of health reasons and my Aunt asked me to find new homes for his gear. Because he lives full-time in Homosassa Springs. Florida the lure have been exposed to salt air and water. But since this is a freshwater lure, I believe he only used it, if at all, at his summer home near Flint, Michigan. For shipping I am quoting USPS First Class.
