VINTAGE 1918 AL FOSS ORIENTAL WIGGLER #4-2 COLORS-GLASS EYES-MARKED AND DATED
This Al Foss lure measures 3 1/2" from line tie to hook. The body itself is 1 1/2" I have seen two photos of these. In one. The lure was solid white celluloid, and in the other is was solid red. This is the only one I've seen in two colors. It has large glass eyes. It also features a tiny brass ring on top that goes through the dome and screw plate, that holds the large hook. There was an earlier version in that the hook went into the body itself. The figure 4 blade is incised with"Al Foss-Pat. Apr30, 18. Embossed on the belly, in tiny letters above the hook screw is"Oriental Wiggler#4. Al Foss was located in Cleveland, Ohio, and was later purchased by American Fork and Hoe Co. True Temper) The figure four blade came in three versions-unmarked, with just Al Foss, or like this one, with the makers name and patent date. ... moreThis lure is 95 years old, and had some use. Antique Fishing Lures - Al Foss, Heddon, CCB
No Reserve. Antique Fishing Lures incl. Al Foss No. 4 Red/White Oriental Wiggler. Antique box for a Heddon Popper Spook Series 940 DG lure, and a CCB Vintage Wooden Baby Jointed Pikie Minnow lure. The Al Foss No. 4 Red/White Oriental Wiggler is in excellent condition with shiny metal leader and spinner. What is exceptionally outstanding about this item is the condition of the Metal Tin Box. It is probably as good as you will ever see and you will look long and far before you find one in this condition. There are a couple of slight scratches on the top, but the top sides and the inside bottom are as close to brand new as you will find. The oriental wiggler paper inside the top cover is almost in as excellent condition as the Al Foss brochure in the bottom portion of the tin. The CCB Pikie lure is marked 9-7-20 and is in at least good plus ... morecondition. There are a couple of small missing paint chips. Some slight crazing, and a small scratch, probably from a Northern Pike. The metal front diving piece is still shiny. Last is Heddon Box that is missing the original lure. It is still in good condition with wear attributable to handling over the years. Inside box is in very good + + condition. If you need additional photos.
