Up for your consideration is an Ambassadeur 5000 3 screw in excellent condition. The reel has some small pin prick rash marks on top of the rims and a blemish on the non-handle side by the"A" in Ambassadeur. The chrome is bright and shiny. No pitting/rust. I took some closeup shots so please look carefully and judge for yourself it's condition. It also comes with the box which is in good condition. It has a tear mark on one side which seems to be intact. There is NO matching sticker on the bottom of the box. All the extras are in excellent shape, leather case, oil bottle, wrench, parts tube(not sure all parts are there) and manual(a little bent from being stuck in the top of the stryrofoam box) Mechanically the reel works great. Looking very very close I have found 2 small pin head size nicks in the paint on top of the side plate rim. See picture) Other than that I see no signs of use. It comes with box in good shape, manuals, papers, and the small wrench with 4 extra brake bushings in a plastic pack. The box has a little sticker glue on the top left front corner. Vintage Early 1960's Algonquin Blanchard Model 820 Canadian Made Boat Rod-very well made and excellent in condition for it's age-should be right around 50 years old. ABU Garcia Ambassadeur One 5000 Black - Must Read Completely serviced
I dropped the price on this a bit. I will end up keeping it if price cannot be met. I bought this reel to use as a blue catfish reel. I ended up finding a matching reel. Identical to all my others. This reel was had 2 bronze bearings that I replace with ball bearings, I also removed the dust caps and added Reel x. Just one drop; performance upgrade that I recommend. Some of the modifications done to this reel are not even done on new reels. Garcia tends to way over lube their reels. As nobody services them. This is great, as it has saved many reels, but the never perform to their optimum. Service should be done yearly. The entire reel was taken apart. Completely degreased and serviced, including, Cleaned with two types of grease remover. touch up paint on the scratches. Sides were not perfect, but internals were great. Upgraded from bushings ... moreto bearings. NOTE: All friction surfaces were polished to a mirror finish. This takes time and makes the drag very smooth. Corrosion X and Reel X were used where required. Every part was checked out. Cal drag grease applied to the the cleaned drag stack* 20 lb yellow Offshore tight line spooled. I put a lot of time into this reel. More than the price. In other words. I serviced this reel as if I were going to own it for the next ten years. Keep in mind that most reels you buy on Ebay are going to need something. I was casting this reel for an hour in the park. Was darned tempted to keep it. It is a good size. And holds plenty of mono. Imagine how much braided it would hold. Again. The finish isn't perfect, but it is a 3 bearing reel with performance polishing. I spent several hours working on this. Save yourself the hassle.

The handle, spool, line guide turn smooth& freely. The thumb release& clicker work. The reel is marked: ABU AMBASSADEUR- NO. 5000- AB. URFABRIKEN SVANGSTA SWEDEN. Used ambassadeur Record 5000 with Ambassadeur chrome latch case. Record reserv-spole wood container, aluminium parts container, empty oil bottle and wrench. This is an older Ambasadeur 5000 made by Abu Sweden. It is in good used shape and I have used it for many years. There are some scratches in the paint but overall it looks great for it's age.
