2 Antique Vintage Skeleton Fishing Reels, Horrocks-Ibbotson?
These two reels are unmarked except for the yardage mark on the bottom. Both being 40. I am told that these are Horrocks Ibbotson reels but I can't be sure, so I will state clearly that you will have to verify for yourself based on your judgment and not mine. They both came with a Horrocks Ibbotson fly rod that I had years ago, so the connection makes sense to me. One of the reels, the one that looks older, has a wooded handle. The other one might be wood but I can't tell. Both spin fine, the one with the wooden handle clicks when you hit the switch but the other is faint, might need oiled. As far as condition, I wouldn't know how to assess condition for these kind of items but I can provide details on request or detailed pictures of an area as well. Two (2) Vintage, Unknown Antique SKELETON FLY FISHING REELS, Both Made in USA
For sale are two Vintage/Antique Skeleton Fly Reels. I'm unsure as to the maker. But I suspect some of you guys might know! The only markings I could find were"Made in USA" which is found on the foot of each reel. Both are about 2 5/8 inch in diameter. And both look pretty much identical except that the pillars on one of them are bent inward(photo 4) Click mechanism works nice on one, but not quite the same on the other. But I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to work or not. These reels were owned by my grandparents I believe, so I'm thinking they're pre-40's at least. There isn't that much rust, really, considering how old these reels must be. Let me know if you have any questions at all. Or need more info.
