There is no Montague label on the however the cork handle. Reel seat, ferrules, yellow wraps, winding check and flamed bamboo cane are all characteristics of a Montague Rapidan rod. All of the section measure 34 ½” I would estimate the fly line weight would be a solid five. The six inch cork handle and screw down lock reel seat are in great condition. There are two snake eye guides on the mid section three on the tip and a stipper guide/hook keeper on the bottom section. The guides on the mid section and one on tip section both have been professionally re-wrapped. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a slight natural ... moreset in the tip section which will not affect the casting of the rod. I meticulously stripped the old varnish. MINT EDWARDS DELUXE SALMON ROD 3/2 12' TWO HANDED BAMBOO FLY ROD NO.200
This is a rare opportunity to acquire a mint Edwards Deluxe Salmon Rod from the 1930s(Gene Edwards Era) This is the No 200 12' rod cataloged in the mid to late 1930s. The rod comes in a tube indicating it was made by E.W. Edwards& Sons division of the Horton Manufacturing Co. Bristol, Conn. The tube does not indicate the model number or the length or weight, but it is a 3/2 spey rod with each section of equal 49" length and straight. These dimensions result in a 12' rod when assembled. The only markings on the rod are Edwards"DeLuxe" above the hook keep and"patent applied for" engraved on the reel seat. It has an agate stripping guide, 12 running guides and the tip top. I believe the rod is new in its original tube and bag. The cork is covered in a plastic wrap which I presume was placed there at manufacture. ... moreThe rod shows no signs of use. I have up for auction a great tip and mid section to a vintage fly pole. The tip is 36" inch's long. Snake guides, wraps, and ferrels all solid just need a cleaning. Circa late 1960's, fine cap and ring all cork seat, clear agate stripper, blued ferrules, excellent cork; a highly respected Dry Fly action. Black silks tipped double red, with excellent varnish; used very little. In spite of it's incredible delicacy, this rod has both spirit and gentle power. Imagine this rod in early summer and small dancing flies! Why fool around with some over-stiff, over-priced off shore graphite piece of junk; here is a far better answer.

Has its rod bag and tube also in good condition. Here's a very nice Heddon Bamboo Fly Rod. Its a 2 1/2 F which makes it a medium trout-bass-light steelhead rod. I prefer this action when I going to cast the larger streamers or terrestrials, but then it will still cast the smaller flies and make great presentations. I have not fished this rod but have lawn cast it, it casts a DT6 or 7 really well and lays it very nicely. I was really impressed, rod is very smooth, predictable and forgiving. CORTLAND 444 IMPREGNATED BAMBOO 2/2 FLY ROD 6 1/2' FOR 5-6 WT ORIGINAL BAG/CASE
Cortland 444 bamboo rod made by Sharpes of Aberdeen. England for Cortland using the Orvis impregnated method. It comes complete with original case and bag. It is a 6 1/2' 2/2 rod for 5-6 weight, known to be a really nice trout rod. The rod is used, but in nice shape. One tip appears to be all original as does the butt section. The second tip appears to have been repaired(see pictures of"ribbed" section between the second and third snake guide below the tip top) and may not be original to this rod. It is slightly shorter than the other tip and butt section. It appears to be a slightly lighter color as well. The female ferrule on the butt section and the male ferrule on the original tip section both have the number 27 stamped on them. I am unable to find that number on the questioned tip. Whatever the history of the questioned ... moretip, it appears to be in nice, fishable condition. Please see pictures for condition and feel free to ask questions. I am not a rod expert. 1938-1940 SOUTH BEND #77 8-1/2' 3/2 Split Bamboo Fly Rod w/Cloth Bag, **F-VF**
Up for auction a rather Nice 1938-1940 SOUTH BEND NO.77 8-1/2 FT. 3/2 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY ROD WITH CLOTH BAG. Not seen near as often as many other models from the South Bend Bait Company, the No.77 would sell from the early 1930's up until WWII. Because this example is equipped with the garnix stripping guide(stainless steel strippers would be used starting in 1941) and wrapped in black& yellow, we know it was built from 1938-1940. Rodshaft carries about a 95% complete"South Bend Bait Company- Quality Tackle" oval logo decal. Handprinted in white ink on one flat is"77- 8-1/2' while on an opposite flat reads"HCH or C" the old line weight designation equivalent to today's modern 7 wt. lines. Built with darkly stained Tonkin cane and comes equipped with extra tip section, red garnix stripping guide, 9) hardened ... moresteel snake guides& tip tops, nickel silver welted ferrules, hook keeper, NS winding check, chromed thread-locking reel seat with black spacer, solid cork Half-Wells grip and wound in black silk tipped in yellow. I've added a photo of the original listing from South Bend's 1939 catalog. Rod is in solid Fine to Very Fine condition, showing moderate wear that one would associate with normal use. Bamboo is perfect, with no splits, cracks or delamination whatsoever. All four sections are the correct equal length, with a few light sets. Original varnish shows thinning in several areas, but remains in decent shape. All wraps are solid and complete. All guides, stripping guide, tip tops, ferrules, hook keeper and winding check are very nice. Reel seat works perfectly, with nice hardware. Solid cork grip is in good condition, showing moderate wear. Put up in a period cloth bag, which remains in very fine condition, with no holes or tears. This Payne model 206 is 9 feet in length and was made between 1931 and 1949. This rod is a 3/2 rod. It comes with original cloth bag and tube. This rod is probably graded as a 6/7 weight rod. It is the"Thorobred" slow action trout fly rod. This vintage split bamboo fly rod comes with the extra tip(4 bamboo rod parts in all) The rod has the original guides and wraps. The varnish finish is a little"bubbles" in a few places but there are no cracks or breaks. The two tip section have slight bends as can be seen in photos number 1 and 2. VINTAGE CUSTOM SOUTH BEND SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage custom refinished four piece 9’ South bend split bamboo fly fishing rod. There is no South bend label however the Comficient cork handle and lite lock reel seat are characteristic of a South Bend rod. It is likely a Model 57 or 59 based on the taper and action. Three sections measure 37” and the mid section is 35 ½” I would estimate the fly line weight to be a solid six. The aforementioned cork handle and reel seat are in very good functional condition. There are four snake eye guides on the mid section and five on each tip section. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. All of the snake eye guides are new. The snake eye guide near the male ferrule on the mid section is missing a partial wrap but it is very tight. Grand dad's fishing pole. Up for auction is a vintage Heddon#14 hand made bamboo fly rod. There are four parts to the rod. 3 of the parts are in very nice condition with slight usage, beautiful color, the extra tip has been broken. The eyes may have been rewound as they look newer. The cork handle has some chips in it and there is a metal piece that moves towards the bottom end. This has the original cloth bag with the original label which is torn, the bag is a little dirty, has some stitching that has come apart at the end and a small hole. Also included is the metal tube with the Heddon label on it, it shows discoloration and scratches. I am no expert when it comes to fishing rods, Please ask questions. Vintage 2 piece split cane fly rod 5' 4" length with aluminium oxide guide and cork handle. Manyfacturer is"Erink" and the markings on the label are: Erink Qualitats Seit 1757 Angelgerate. The rod is in good condition with the bindings on the loops intact. There is a small split in the connecting ferrel but when put together the rod is still really solid. A new coat of varnish would enhance the overall appearance but the rod could easily be used as it is. Vintage South Bend Bamboo 9 Foot Three Piece (3/2) Fly Fishing Rod w Tube
For sale at a buy it now fixed price is this classic bamboo fly fishing rod. It is an 9 foot three piece rod with two tips and it comes in the original aluminum tube. This is one of the early tubes with the heavy metal threaded cap. This one has no markings on it but from the style of cupped grip and the style of reel seat I think it is likely a South Bend rod. As usual it has no marking of the appropriate fly line. However. It throws a WF-6-F well in my back yard. This one is used but in excellent condition for one of these with no damage to the bamboo. The pieces are of equal length and assembled it measures 9 feet so I think it has had no broken tips. no repairs. The grip. Eyes and seat are all good and without damage. As for the wraps.well.they are all there but a different color here and a different color there. I think they were all ... moreoriginally yellow but only a few of those remain. I am selling a vintage Mitsuru bamboo fly rod with a Bonson Royal 360 fly reel. The rod is in very good condition. All of the eyelets are in tact, the only deficiencies I can see is the top edge of the cork has some pieces of cork flaking off. The fly rod is about 8 feet long, the reel turns fine but I cant verify that it casts because I bought it from an estate auction and couldnt begin to tell you how to cast a fly reel, give me a Zebco 202 and Im fine. Very nice post WWII Japanese Bamboo Fly Rod. Made in Tokyo, Japan. This"NFT" rod(as labeled on the handle section with a Mt Fuji decal) is in excellent condition, as is the wooden rod case. Comes with five rod sections; 3 tips, 1 middle, 1 handle section. All in near MINT condition. The handle section still has the protective plastic over the cork. I do not believe this rod set was ever used. Small hairline splits in metal threads at reel butt on handle section as pictured. Splits are barely noticable an does not affect the operation of the reel thread assembly. Also included are 23 vintage flies and the original cloth rod bag. Overall a great vintage setup here. The reel seat. Winding check and ferrules are characteristics of the early pocket rods manufactured by Montague. I would estimate it could be aligned with a one-two weight fly line. The 5 ¾” cork handle and reel seat are in great condition. I have included eight snake eye guides and a stripper guide(not original to the rod) The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a vibration due to the two(red) ferrules that have been replaced. It will however not affect the casting of the rod. The storage clothe does have tears. Here is a great looking and feeling split bamboo fly rod. There is a very legible label“SAOTSUNI” at the base of the pole. The pole measure 8 feet long and weighs around 6 ounces. There are five pieces to the pole. When put together with the fittings one makes a much shorter and stiffer pole than the 8’ fly rod. The other two extra pieces are end tips. On of them is missing its base metal piece. I believe the photos will demonstrate the condition of this pole. Please feel free to ask questions before bidding. Thank you. Sock is correct and in great shape. Nice label and stampings on the rod. Cork is good, a bit dark, but not missing any chunks etc. One tip may have been re-wrapped, but it is the correct length and not broken. Reel seat clean. This listing is for: an antique fishing rod by South Bend. Model#359. 9 inch long bamboo rod with the original carrying case. This is a#59- 9 which is 9 feet in length. I am not an expert so I'm unable to tell w hat needs re pairs or to comment on the condition. I was told that the tip is missing from it so please use the photos to get the best information about this piece. All of the guides appear to be in tact and appear to me to be original. I am not expert enough to tell if the rod has been restored. But I don't think so. The cork grip is dirty and I did not try to clean it. I was told by the older gentleman that I got this from that it had never been used and that may be true. The only thing I can say is that the sliding plastic that goes over the flies and hooks etc has a break in the middle and is wavy from time. I’m not an expert on rods and reels but everything appears to be intact. The handle has a sticker that says Vicki– Japan on it. The box is interesting. Part of the wooden slides to hold the rod are broken but other than that it looks to be in nice shape. You could see some signs of wear and tear. Overall it’s a great find! Wright McGill Granger Special 8642 Bamboo Fly Rod 5 wt.
For your consideration- a Wright McGill Granger Special 8642 bamboo fly rod in very good condition. This is an 8'6" 5 wt. rod. All sections are straight and full length. All wraps are tight. Ferrules are tight and pop when they pull apart. Varnish is nice. As are the reel seat and grip. One of the tips was scarfed to get it back to the correct length. The top guide and the tip top on that tip were re-wrapped to accommodate the repair as well as the first guide on the mid section. The wraps are an excellent match to the originals. All work was professionally done by a respected rod builder. The Granger tube is missing the cap but will come with a second capped tube that the Granger tube it will fit into. This rod is completely solid is a great candidate to take out fishing. If there are any questions don't hesitate to ask.

What an exciting find! This antique bamboo fly rod is roughly 8'1" with one of its end pieces on and approx two or three inches shorter when you connect the second of the two end pieces onto it. They are connected by beautiful brass made with excellent craftsmanship. The entire rod is an example of quality. It does need some minor tuning up to make it perfect. But structurally she is sound and feels tight and strong. It is an unsigned piece, as far as I can tell, however my knowledge in this area is lacking and if anyone viewing this has any idea who the maker is or what exact time frame it dates from, please, take a moment to email me and fill me in! I custom rebuilt this used fly rod from a vintage South Bend bamboo fly rod. This rod features custom vintage green/black jasper silk thread wraps with Pearsall's silk red gossamer tipping. It's a really nice sturdy built cane rod typical of the South Bend rods from the 1950's era and is ready to be taken out and fished again. Search This is a lot of 25 fishing rod parts. When I took the pics I thought they were all bamboo but later I saw that 4 pieces were not. Those four pieces are shown in the last 4 pics. But they are also included in the"master pics" There are 8 butt sections with 7 being bamboo. The longest butt is about 40 3/4 inches and they are in the left side of the photos. There are 8 center sections with 6 being bamboo. The longest is 39 inches. They are in the center of the pics. There are 9 tips with 8 being bamboo. The longest is 39 3/4 inches.
