The lure comes from our good friend J. V. and his lifelong collection. Watch for lots of lures! This is a collection of over 2.000 lures! LURE MARKINGS: This is marked on the belly in black letters: Heddon Crazy Crawler. The exact age is unknown but known vintage. LURE CONDITION: We ... moreinspect every lure with a 10x jewelers glass! This lure measures aprox. 2-1/8" long. There's no doubt this is a very nice older Crazy Crawler. NO real serious nicks were found on the entire lure. The white spot near the tail is a small area of raised white shop paint. The paint does not appear to be covering a blemish rather just a speck of shop paint. Note this version has the red pupils. A few small bumps and impression marks are seen scattered throughout however these are considered general use marks. The left side tail areas also have just a few small specks of the white shop paint. Any actual hook nicking is minimal and of the pin prick size. This version has the surface hardware and was most likely made towards the late 40's or early 50's. Light crazing lines are scattered. The hooks and hardware are slightly aged. It is a beautiful wood lure. The paint and hardware is in great condition. There is a small indent/crack visible on the bottom along with one or two hairline cracks that are only visible at very close inspection. They include a Crazy Legs(the legs walk when propeller is turned) An old 3+ inch wooden Heddon Crazy Crawler in a frog pattern(some scuffs and a wing slightly bent) a Rebel shallow floater frog, an as-is Hula Popper(buck tail and rear treble missing) a Creek Chub Plunker(it was covered with a white film so I ran it under hot water and rubbed off most of it with a cloth) and two Fred Arbogast Jitterbugs(3 inches long; one with some scuffs on the design) As noted and evident in the detailed photos. Most of these lures ... morewere well used with bangs, wear, and scuffs. Still, most are quite useable, and some are collectible. For example, it is worth noting that the Heddon Crazy Crawler has the word"Pat. on an outer wing(see side close-up) but no other numbers inside or out. Most other listings on ebay for this lure shows a patent number inside the wing. Perhaps this is an early production example before a patent number was issued.
