Here is an old Heddon Spook Super-Dowagiac fishing lure. Length is 3 5/ 8" It has toilet seat hardware. It is painted Black over Red on Amber plastic. The flaptail is stamped Genuine Heddon Dowagiac. The glass eyes are cracked and chipped. There is chipping of the paint. The hooks have some rust but are still strong with one time bent slightly open. The line tie and the head of the steel leader has some hard plastic or epoxy covering the opening as if it was one time glued to something. Maybe for display. This is a fine old lure with the emphasis on old. My auctions end on Monday and Thursday. Years ago I bought at a local farm auction a machinists tool chest which was full of Fishing and Rod making tools and parts. The old guy had 100's of rods and reels and old lures and this chest was full of parts and pieces of everything imaginable. I sold the chest here on ebay a number of years ago for $1400 dollars. But before I did I pulled out a couple pieces and one was this box of fishing lure parts most of which I think came from wooden glass eyed fishing lures. If anyone has some old lures that are in bad shape these parts may be useful. One little box, all the boxes are old hook boxes, has 100's of brass screws from attaching hooks to lure bodies and are original and old. Other boxes have diving lips and more hardware for attaching hooks ... moreto bodies. There are a number of boxes that have eyelits that have long shanks for attaching hooks to bodies in different sizes. All of this is contained in a old line box with sliding lid. What we are offering to you today is a vintage 1915 Heddon Dowagiac Crab Wiggler. It has the reverse running plug. The variable line tie, and the U shaped collar. These 3 features are from the original Crab Wigglers. It measures about 4 inches in length and weighs 7/8oz. The body is made of wood, and the eyes are a yellowish glass. Condition: This lure is in good condition. It has been used many times so there is bite marks. Scratches, and paint missing. Also there is some oxidation on the hardware. ME 04345 VINTAGE HEDDON'S DOWAGIAC BABY CRAB WIGGLER WOOD LURE W/ BOX-RARE- Powered by Up for auction from an estate sale is this incredible VINTAGE HEDDON'S DOWAGIAC BABY CRAB WIGGLER WOOD LURE W/ ORIGINAL BOX. Also. Comes with the the lure's spec sheet, as seen in the photos! This lure is approx 3.25" Long. I believe the eyes are glass. Not 100% sure. I would date this lure back to the early 1900's to the late 1920's. Overall. I would say this lure is in really nice condition, in my opinion. It looks like it has seen very minimal use as it appears to have little to no fish strikes on it. You can see the general overall condition of the box as well. It is close to 100 years old so it won't be perfect/mint but it is still a good sold box The corners are all in tact. Not taped ... moretogether etc. There is a slight rip on one side, as seen in the pics. The Paper is also VERY old and has been folded for along period of time.
