But overall its still pretty cool. It measures approximately 44.5" long x 2.5" wide. It is triangular in shape. The hinged white plastic top is broken off and missing as pictured above. This lot also comes with a red soft rod case. When laying flat it measures approximately 5.75" wide by 44" long. It has black laces to be able to tie it closed. Fenwick 1975 7 wt fiberglass fly rod
This is a great fly rod with a sad history. After five years in the USMC when I got out I decided to learn to fly fish. I'd saved up $$. I went into a mid-Willamette Valley{Oregon} sporting goods shop that I didn't know was going out of business. I wanted a good all-around fly rod. my first one. This was in April 1975 and as a general rule back then. Service people were not held in good regard. What happened was the owner sold me stock that was improper for my use. He sold me this wonderful 7 weight rod that cost $75 at the time and a level 6 weight line. He also sold me heavy leaders. Etc. This was a good example of why the Curtis{sic? creek and other basic fly rod books were written. Needless to say it didn't work out. I struggled and finally admitted defeat and bought a bamboo outfit from a good dealer. I was in the stream. ... moreSo to speak. Anyway, my wonderful rod has basically been in the closet since 1976. Photographs show condition. Rod specs. which are good for bass and steelhead sized fish are 8 feet 6 inches. 4 ounces, no. 7 line. I have occasionally lawn cast this rod since 1976 using various 6-7-8 weight lines. It has only been on the water three times. Once in a wonderul dapping situation on the west flank of Mt Hood. This is one of the Very Early Fenwicks that were cherished by their owners then as they are today. Seldom seen is a 315 Featherweight in this kind of condition. Excellent Plus, Take it out and Fish it as if it were built yesterday. The Cork is so nice on this rod it puts to shame some of my Five and Six Thousand Dollar High End Can Rods. Jim Green has yet to Invent the Fenwicks fiberglass ferrule and anodized metal is still the standard. I put an Orvis CFO III with a 5 Weight Forward line on the rod this morning and hit our lake ... morewith some new Hand Ties. Well it didn't take long to tell this was a rod one can Fish With. Very Forgiving, in that I was a bit clumsy missing my second cup of coffee I suspect. Yet I was able to throw a long tight loop that looked and felt like a guided mussel- Wham! an out cropping of rocks That Glitters from my Various offerings over the past 15 years. This one was just in front and the silence was Broken! Seven Pounds of Angry Black Bass was working his hardest to rip line or break glass, he didn't get his way. This rod'Danced' and gave when it was time to give and fought back when it was time to bring in line. This is one Heck of a Rod, 50 Plus Years ago Standards- Today's Standards. The 315 can surely Anchor anyone's Vintage Rod Collection or be the Go To Rod on any Fishing Trip. The 315 is in Excellent Plus Condition. Looking close to New if it weren't for a few scratches on the butt of the real seat. The Rod Sack is in Excellent Plus to Near Mint Conditon and the Cardboard Rod Tube is in Very Good Condition, no Distractions. Fenwick fly rod cabelas cahill 1 fly reel
Was a FF 856 Rod has had 2 foot or so cut off the butt end and the grip was moved up. The stripper eye was also moved. The top section is as it was. Now it fishes much better with a 5 at line.
