He informed me that i would need a good trout rod. As right behind the park- there was an inlet, and he was catching Beautiful little Dolly Varden, and Sea Run Cutthroats on a regular basis when he was not working. I was all over it- and this rod was easy to transport- right in my luggage- for the flight up there. Let me tell you- it fishes like a dream! Very sweet light action- I was able to snag 4 of the Dollys- all about 1-2 pounds. Holy smokes- what fun that was. The rod performed better than I expected. Really nice to catch a fish on. More on the rod- as I said- it appeared unused when I got it several years ago. I bought second hand- and it has been sitting ever since- as I never had a chance to get away. I made darn sure to take extra special care of it while I was using it. As it is in such sweet condition. I would love to call it mint condition, but can not as i know I used it. As you can see in pictures one end is wanting to start coming apart, nothing that alittle love couldn't fix. One of the closure clasps is missing on one side of the box as well. Included are the plastic sliders covering the storage compartment for flys, hooks, etc. This is good because many old boxes have these missing! Rod is in good shape for its age. The rod does have one tip that the ferrule is coming loose from the bamboo tip portion but I am sure something that an experienced fisherman/pole collector could fix. The blue/green looking stopper on the bottom of the fishing pole base wants to fall out when you pick the pole up. These seems common for old poles and tends to happen just from age, nothing major but wanted to mention it. Everything else on the bamboo fly rod pieces seems intact and good, again refer to pictures for exact conditions. There are some nicks and scrapes here and there but nothing major, just normal wear from so many years of use. Overall this rod, box, lures and everything else seem to be in rem

The cloth case is ... moregone. The rod is in exceptional shape. The eyes have no damage and the wrapping is in great shape. The cork handle has never had a hook in it and is damage free. The feral attaches well and holds nicely. The action is live. The line rating tag is still on the rod but I couldn't upload enough pictures to show everything. My guess is made in very late 50's or early 60's. Defininely before mid 1963 as that was the year the 5 digit zip code came out and Fenwick's address doesn't have that.only Long Beach 4, California. Considering that, this rod is at least 50 years old but looks like it was manufactured last week except the line rating tag is slightly loose and needs regluing on the top edge. That's not bad for a 50 year old rod. There is a dent or two in the aluminum case as can be seen in picture 11. The serviceability is in no way impaired. Feralite had not yet been patented when this rod was made as it says patent pending behind the word Feralite. Serial number is C 16723. Exceptional piece but I am downsizing and can't tramp the streams as I once did so here's a nice opportunity to own agreat rod. Low start. No reserve, and 14 day return privilege so bid with confidence and the assurance that I want you to be 100% pleased with your purchase. You are bidding on one vintage Copy of a EXPERT No. 22 Fly Reel. There are no markings on the reel as to manufacturer. This reel has nickel or possibly cadmium plated brass construction. The plating is in fair condition with no polished surfaces. It could be other than nickel(see photos) There is a rear frame clicker with a slide button on/off control. The clicker engages, but is weak. It is in working condition. The handle has a plastic or hard rubber knob. The reel measures 3-1/8" diameter, 2-3/4" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-11/16" long by 5/8" wide. It weighs 10.4 ounces, with packaging it will ship below 1 pound. Some of the differences I see from the Meisselbach Expert No. 22; this reel has a ... moreseparate foot attached.
