This 2 piece 3 1/2 ounce rod is ... moreperfect for drift boat fishing. Big rivers and lakes. As you can see, the tip top and the ferrules are quite nice. The wraps are still shiney. The overall condition is very good save for one barely noticeable flaw. Inspection reveals one foot on the hook keeper is out of its wrap. So it's currently held firmly in place(see picture) with black tape. I'm told this is not unusual for vintage Scotts. A friend also owns a Scott rod from this period and his hook keeper has done the same thing and is being held in place the same way. Otherwise there are just a few tiny scrapes on the rod totally consistent with its age(approximately 25 years old) Original cloth rod sleeve and original rod tube included.

The trident on the pole looks to be worn off slightly and the butt cap seems to be on loosely. Other then these very minor issues this seems to be in very good condition. Orvis Golden Eagle Fiberglass Fly Rod (Phillipson Epoxite)
Here is a(Like New) Orvis Golden Eagle 8' 2/1 6wt. It is in absolutely beautiful condition. The rod has had one owner and was very lightly fished when new and then stored safely for decades. These rods were made on Phillipson epoxite blanks and are the pinacle of a good fiberglass rod. For the Orvis or Phillipson collector this is a must have. The rod. As with all Orvis rods, is overated and stated to be a 7wt. The rod is not good with a 7wt line, it feels tippy. However, if you put a DT6 cortland peach444 on this rod, it truly is magificent. Some people claim to use this rod for bass. I used it on a spring creeks in WY and it was the perfect rod for medium size rising trout. When the 1451 model was a mainstay in the Shakespeare fly fishing rod lineup. Cork handle is in excellent shape. All connecting joints(2) in excellent condition and work perfectly. Tip top and all of the line guides and material used to keep them in place are excellent. There is no reason to think the pole wouldn't fish as well now as it was able to when it was brand new. Shalespeare's composite poles from this era were mostly like this- straight fiber rods with spiral markings. They were less flexible than today's composite poles and not as light. Up for auction is very rare paw paw jughead wood fly rod lure. This is a very nice rare wood fly rod lure single hook type the line you see at the top is where bait was cut so that hook could be inserted and over the years the filler material has shunk there is some paint loss around head area but belly weight does still have paint i think this predates other jughead type lures because of belly weight and single hook style.
