This rod is in immaculate condition. I am the original owner and was given to me as a gift roughly 30 years ago. Maybe used a couple of times then and stored away in the garage every since. It is clean from tip to tip and has been in the tube and cloth wrap all this time. It is an 8 1/2 footer and dry fly action. Imcluded also is am excellent 4 1/2 foot micro-light open face rod. The handle is marked"NARMCO" which stood for National Armament Company. A WW2 weapons manufacturing plant in Santa Ana Calif that used fiberglass in some of their parts. They invented the first hollow fiberglass fishing rod blank in 1946. NARMCO became Narmco Conolon Company in 1947 when they started fishing rod production. The Garcia Corporation bought the company in the early sixties and changed the name to the The Conolon Corporation. I'm guessing this rod dates to the late sixties since it does have a partial label with GARCIA partially legible. It measures 6 feet with an attractive dark gold bland ... morewith sound black wraps and handle. The cork is attractively soiled and 100% intact. You're bidding on a Garcia Conolon Light Action Fast Taper Two Star Spinning Fishing Rod. It has been shortened. It should be 7 feet long but is only 6’ and 8” long. So. I would say the action is more of a medium action than light action. It does show some marks to the finish and some staining on the cork, but nothing too major. Mechanics are nice and the guides may have a little light speckling of rust, but not much if any. The bottom guide on the tip section must have come off at one time, because it has been re-wrapped with a lighter color blue thread as opposed to the darker blue thread of the other guides. Garcia Conolon Star 9 1/2 Ft. Large Spinning Fishing Rod-Some Work
You're bidding on a Garcia Conolon Spinning Fishing Rod that shows some wear to the finish and the cork is a little weathered and stained. But structurally sound. It does need some guide work as described. The bottom guide ring looks like it has been re-welded or soldered to the guide supports, so this ring must have fallen out at one time. Also, there are a couple of guides on the tip section whose guide arms have come out from underneath the wraps. All guides are rusty, so I would suggest replacing them all. The wrap at the base of the male ferrule is starting to come unwound a little bit. I can’t make out much of the label, but can see it says Medium Action and Star. I took lots of pictures, the forth one show a bit of a scuff on the handle. the cloth has a little bit of paint or something on the bottom of the cloth bag and the top where you insert the rod into the cloth has a seem thats coming undone a little bit, but the rod seems to be in excellent condition.
