Unfortunately, the screw/pin that goes into the underside of the line leveler is missing. The tip of the pin rode in the spiral notches on the line winder bar. With this part missing, the line winder doesn't go back and forth, like it should. It has Aluminum side plates, front and back, with a German Silver spool and pillars. 2 screws on the handle-end side plate don't look original. Selling it as " not-working" or for "parts".

This reel was ma nufactured in the Newark N. J. plant before Meisselbach was sold and moved to the Midwest. Considering its age the reel is in very good condition with some minor discoloration but no dents or scratches. For its age the reel is in very good condition both mechanically and cosmetically. It is complete and everything works on it albeit with a couple of squeaks and some occasional drag. With the exception of the guide bar for the line guide and a place o n the reel foot it is virtually unmarked. With no other pitting and very little discoloration. Meisselbach#372. Agate Guide fly reel. The smaller sizes of the symploreel with agate were not made until 1930, and set them apart from other US produced fly reels. These versions are definitely scarce, and even more so, when with an additonal agate guide, and an original Symploreel bag. No box. The"all red" agate guide on the reel is in perfect condition. The"red/green" agate on the spare is damaged slightly on the underside/backside as noted in the photos where it was for some reason crimped. Were the spare to be installed on the reel, the imperfection will not be noticeable. Vintage Horrocks Ibbotson Bamboo Fly Rod and Meisselbach#260 Brass Fly Reel This is an exceptional. Antique, bamboo fly fishing fod for the 1920-30"s with a Meisselbach vintage brass reel. I obtained the Horrocks-Ibbotson rod and the Meisselbach reel from an antique dealer in Seattle. WA many years ago and have had it displayed with my vintage fishing collection. Thus, it has not been used. The cork handle on the rod is in excellent condition and guides are in good shape. The rod is approximately 9.3 ft in length and has an extra rod tip. It was made in Utica NY. The entire set is stored in a vintage canvas case that contains an alumumn tube that portects the rod sections. Collectors Item: Here we have a featherlight fly fishing reel which was the forerunner of copy cat fly reels from the 1920’s to the‘60’s. In 1896. Gus Meisselbach patented the design and 3 raised piller Featherlights were created: the#280, 260, and#270. They were made of both bronze and nickel. This reel. Made of bronze-the#270, is in excellent working condition. The bronze and the wooden oak? or mahogany? handle is in excellent condition as well. Inscribed on the bottom of the foot is" Featherlight. N o. 260" and on onside of the foot bottom is"PAT. JAN. 14. 96, DEC. 27, 04" see photos) There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the rear frame. It is in good working condition. The handle is a wood knob attached to the spool. Opposite the knob is a counterweight on the spool. The screw holding the spool on is not original. Overall it is in good condition. The frame measures 2-3/8" diameter. 2" deep including the handle, the spool measures 2-1/4" diameter, and has a foot measuring 2-7/16" long by 9/16" wide. Wooden Fishing Reel RF Meisselbach Sidewinder. New Jersey 1910-1920. 5" diameter, marked with a horseshoe with fish in center and the words Trade Mark on either side. Original fishing line still on! The Good Luck wooden reel was manufactured from the 1890s until 1919. These reels do not have the Meisselbach name on them- they are almost all branded with a horseshoe and fish trademark. As shown here. The earliest examples are stamped with the 1889 patent that pertains to the Expert reel. The final design of the Good Luck reel was patented in March 9, 1897.

Up for bid is one Vintage Meisselbach-Catucci"Symplopart" No 250 Nickel Plated Casting Reel w/Box. The reel has nickel plating over brass. The plating is in very good condition. With the only small point showing brass is the rear bearing cap(see photo) There is some brass showing on the top of the foot at both ends(see photos) There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the rear plate, and a rotating knob at the axle to control drag. It is in very good working condition. This reel has a simple take-apart feature, by depressing a button on the head plate and rotating to a mark on the frame the head plate is free to be removed. The handle appears to have a ivory colored plastic knob. On the handle side face cover it is marked"Symplopart" On the rear plate it is marked with"PAT. PENDING" and on the bottom ... moreof the tubular frame it is marked with"100 YARDS, N o 250" The box is in poor to fair condition with the corners frayed. One corner seam broken on the top, and some water staining on the end label. It appears the bottom has been repaired with the addition of a liner. It measures 1-15/16" diameter. 4" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-7/16" long by 9/16" wide. This is a Vintage Meisselbach Catucci Symploreel#372 Fly Fishing Reel. Brown"Bakelite" finish. With silver nickel hardware and a dark green handle knob. The reel is in excellent working condition. It is missing one of the screws for the mounting bracket, but because of the way the reel is constructed, it still mounts firmly on a rod and doesn't wiggle. Cosmetically, it has some blemishes due to normal use, but still looks really good for a reel of this age. See the pictures) It is 3 3/8" diameter; 3/4" spool width; and weighs 5 3/4 ounces. Pre-1910 Vintage MEISSELBACH TRIPART Casting Reel - Single Ring - Scarce
Meisselbach Tripart reel. Featuring nickel silver plated brass construction, counter balanced handle, back plate mounted clicker, and back plate swaged to the tube. According to Phil White's Meisselbach and Meisselbach-Catucci Fishing Reels book, this reel dates to the 1907-08 time frame. Reel is simply marked Tri-Part on the face plate. The back plate is marked Patents- Nov. 15'04- Dec. 27'04- June 20'05- Mar. 5'07. The bottom of the foot is marked A.F. Meisselbach& Bro. Newark, N.J. 80 Yards. Reel shows some wear from use as seen in the pics. Mechanically excellent with super smooth action and a strong clicker. A scarce Meisselbach reel. The Faceplate is stamped"Tripart" 582" While the tail-plate carries the Patent dates" PATENTS NOV. 15. 04, DEC. 27, 04, JUNE 20, 05, MARCH 5. 07, AUG. 3, 09" Under the foot is stamped"A.F. Meisselbach Mfg. Co. ELYRIA, O, U.S.A. 80 YARDS" Comes equipped with tubular frame construction. Tailplate-mounted clicker, tension control, handle with pyralin knobs and a complete"Takapart" function that allows to reel to be completely disassembled for servicing by just unscrewing the endplate ring by hand. Reel is in very good working condition and appears lightly used. Here's a pretty rare reel. It's a Meisselbach Allright reel, patented January 14, 1896. I got kind of bummed out. About a year ago I took this apart to clean up and ended up losing a little screw. It belongs in the center of picture 1. Seeing as I have another in my collection, I am putting this up for auction. This reel spins and the clicker works. It obviously needs a cleaning. I was debating taking the line off a year ago. But left it on. It has some sort of backing and a nylon/mono? line. These reels, although looking like a fly reel, were designed for casting I believe. It's not the best. But hard to find. It has a wooden knob. Buyer to include $8.50 S+H. Each additional win is only 50 cents additional postage.

This is the largest size measuring 7" in diameter and having ball bearings. They started making these in the 1890's and ceased production of them in 1919. This model was patented in 1897. These were sometimes referred to as"cod reels" because they were used quite a bit in bottom fishing for Atlantic cod. They were also known as Good Luck reels because of the horse shoe.
