Large lot vintage 11 Mitchell spinning reels 308, 306, 304 & 300 + misc parts
Large lot vintage Mitchel spinning reels. Misc. parts& 3 misc. reels, working fly reel like new made in USA, old south bend 725a for parts& childs bait casting reel Japan. Mitchel reels include 2-306 both good working order, bail on 1 does not flip may need spring, body show signs of use but much of finish intact. Two 308, both good working order, later model finish nice, earlier model shows signs of use& normal wear& tear. Two 304 both are functional one needs a bail spring, finish shows signs of use& normal wear& tear. Five 300, 3 in good working order, 2 with much loss of finish but very smooth action, 3rd has finish mostly intact but exhibits signs of use. The 4th reel has no bail, reels smoothly finish shows signs of normal wear& tear with some loss. The 5th reel a later model does work missing bail etc. finish ... moreclean. The reel comes with it's original matching box and extra spool. Mechanically the reel functions flawlessly with all operations checked. Cosmetically the reel is in very good to excellent condition with a nice black finish and vivid graphics. The only cosmetic concerns include wear to the edge of the case cover and some surface wear to the rotationg head and bottom of the case. Most of the wear appears to be from rubbing on the box. The spool case for the extra spool is not original to the package but was added since the original was broken. Despite the cosmetic concerns. This is a great reel with an unusual matching box. Garcia Mitchell 308 Vintage Reel 1st Version with Serial Number on Box
A very special Vintage Garcia Mitchell 308 reel with a SN 083603. This is a 1st Version with a starting manufacturing date of 1959. Has the"FR"O"NCE on the housing just above the anti-reverse lever. It doesn't have slotted lock nut for some reason but every other identifying idiom indicates it is indeed a 1st version. The serial number on the foot matches the serial number on the box. I feel this is a very important feature. The box by-the-way is missing one of it's faces with the label, I don't feel it distracts too much from the value since the box is not perfect by any means. The reel on the other hand is darn near perfect which is the most important thing. There is very slight wear is on the edges of the flat side of the body and on the foot. Both are insignificant and if nothing else, just gives it character. ... moreMechanically it is sound, bail snaps clean, spins smooth and effortlessly. And some minor fleas bites on the edge of the gear case. This is a later 1st version 308 with the FR"O"NCE embossed on the handle side of the reel. And it has the later version Hex nut found under the detachable spool. It comes with all the correct papers. Serial number is 086647 on both the reel seat and on the label on the box bottom. HARD TO FIND MITCHELL 308 PRO AND 300 PRO
SEE LARGER PICS BELOW FOR BETTER VIEW Here's a couple duplicates that I'm getting rid of from my collection that you just don't see that often. The 308 PRO has S2 04 stamped on the foot which means it was made in 1987. And the 300 PRO has R4.04 that indicates that it was made in 1986. I've seen several of the 300 PROs around. But you just don't see many of the 308 PROs. Both these reels were made in France. The 300 has been used more than the 308 as can be seen in the pictures below. The 300 has some gold worn off its name and a little black missing from the bail. The 308 has a couple small paint bubbles on the edge of the bail. It doesn't appear that the side plates have ever been off either one of these reels. They both work well and have snappy bails. I've tried to give good views of both reels.
