Reel works great no issues there.Has some sctratches and paint loss,will need some lube and a good cleaning. looks like a fisherman has took a file or something to the edges on the reel seat however fit ok on a rod. Garcia Mitchell 308 Spinning Reels - Lot of 2 - Very Collectible
Up for auction is this lot of 2 Garcia Mitchell 308 Spinning Reels. Reel#1. On the right pic 1 and pic 5 works as it should, strong bail spring, BUT IT IS NOISY. There is a bad part/gear inside that makes a clacking sound. It has some boat rash but is in fairly good shape. It has a shallow spool. The number on the bottom of the reel seat looks like 820875, but it is faint and I can't be sure. Reel#2. On the left pic 1 and pic 6 is much quieter but is has a broken bail spring and the handle will not fold up, it is frozen open. It has quite a bit of boat rash on the body, although the spool housing is good. It has a deep spool. The number on the bottom of the reel seat is 689721. As a matter of fact considering it’s age it in superb condition. Serial#0185207 This is also a Mitchel 308- Made in France. I have to sell this as a parts reel because I can’t be sure of how to fix it. I took apart the bail spring. Which it still has, but I can’t figure out how to make it function. I truly believe if you know how to put the spring back in its original location you will an extremely well working reel Serial#33 3 58 This is also a Mitchel 304S that I personally bought in France and I have never seen see one in the USA. Again the reel works fine except this time I took it apart to clean it and can’t get the spring to work. So the bail won’t work. You can move it into place and work it that way but this makes it a“parts” reel. Again the spring is still in the reel I just don’t know how to put it back in its original position. Vintage 1974 Mitchell Garcia 308 spinning reel s/n D294110 France CLEAN!
For your consideration is a lightly used Mitchell Garcia 308 spinning reel. I found this reel at an estate sale(along with a Mitchell 300. Which is listed now as well) and it appears to be in overall very nice condition. It most likely has been used, but obviously not much, it has minor scuffs and scratches to the paint. From researching the serial# it appears to have been made in France around 1974. I know very little about fishing reels, so take a close look at the photos above. The bail spring seems good, the clicker switch works well. It spins very smoothly and the chrome is very clean. I'm sure it could use a thorough clean and lube for being almost 40 years old.
