English Regency Mahogany Antique Chiffonier[Secretary Desk. Bookcase] First quarter of the 19th Century In excellent well preserved condition Item# 130004OTY21 This is a very fine English Regency Chiffonier crafted during the first half of the 19th Century. Formed of dense well figured mahogany. The profile is square and strict, a piece delivering an almost intimidating stocky presence. The diminutive stature of the bookcase is typical of the Chiffonier, three graduated levels of shelving with triple-beaded edge moldings of the solid, the gallery joined with exposed dovetails along the side and the case joined with dovetails at the bottom. Two original hand filed steel screws still secure the bookcase to the lower case. Flipping over original hand cast brass hinges. The top of the case rests on two square lopers to reveal a flat gilt-tooled ... moreleather writing surface. A small tab at the back of this surface allows the back of the desk to rise and reveal a small compartment beneath the writing surface. This desk portion locks, protecting papers and valuables inside with ease. The two doors completing the lower area of the case feature replaced pleated fabric. These opening over original hinges and hardware to reveal a shelved interior(two replaced shelves) with a deep space. The case rests over original lion paw feet, these executed with utmost precision- even the backs of the feet, areas that would almost never be seen, are finished carefully with highly detailed carving throughout. For anyone passionate about English antique furniture. This is a very fine acquisition. Functional and a very useful piece, it makes a wonderful desk, bookcase, entertainment center and console table. This is a form that is easily incorporated into the home, every aspect of it preserved carefully to remain in excellent overall condition. This set is for the buyer with an appreciation and passion for fine Native American jewelry and all its symbolism! All pieces are signed by the famous Navajo artist D&J Clark(see photo) The symbolism. Heritage and design incorporated in these pieces are wonderful! Each piece features the symbolic feather. Bear paw and bird. The bird is beautifully carved and framed in its bezel. I believe it is white turquoise and the wings, eyes and detail is done with a carved thin black line. The turquoise bear paw has silver beads for its toes. The large feather is artistically placed to mesh all three symbols. All three are combined to produce an incredible work of art. The ring measures 1-1/4” by 1-1/8” Quite a statement on the finger! It is a ring size 7. It could easily be sized by a jeweler. The satiny finish is superb throughout on this American made antique furniture. Leaves are 12" wide. They fit and match very well and have shaped aprons or skirts. The pedestal splits when opened, a hidden center leg affords extra stability when extended. This china cabinet appears to be all original with its original finish, glass, mirrors, shelves and casters. The top of this piece is graced with beautiful egg& dart carvings with wonderful scroll, floral and foliate below.Full fluted columns flank the door with each one featuring acanthus carvings at the top and bottom, with the base resting on four large carved paw feet with the original double casters intact on each foot. Inside there are four original shelves each offering double plate grooves at the back, the top shelf does have brass ... morecup hooks that have been placed there in the past. This china cabinet measures 77 3/4(6'5 3/4" inches in height. Width of 52 1/2 inches, total depth front to back of 18 inches and this cabinet weighs approximately 200 lbs. It is made with a turquoise stone set in Sterling Silver(not marked) The stone is set in in a three toed bear paw with silver rope around it. Santa Clara Native American Pottery~Black Bear Paw Wedding Vase Signed Roberta This is an exceptionally nice wedding vase hand coiled and signed by Roberta(Naranjo) born in 1946. Her Mother Nicolassa Naranjo(1907-2000) was a master potter in the Santa Clara Pueblo. Roberta trained under her and became a master potter in her own right. This vase has the classic Naranjo family bear paw mark and is done in the lovely brown/black pottery. It is beautifully polished(which is what Roberta liked to do best) And it really shows in the reflections in the pictures. It measures approx. 9 7/8" high x 6 1/4" wide at top X 4 5/8" across the bottom. It has bear paws on both sides. Please look at the pics for best and complete description. It is in excellent condition. The spots you see are light reflections. The wedding vase is an ancient ... morevessel that is still used in the traditional Native American wedding ceremonies. The couple drink a special drink from the spouts used to represent the uniting of their lives and the pot is to reflect the ancient ritual.
