Antique Heavy Cast Brass Crayfish/Lobster Fishing Lure, Pflueger?
I bought this recently at an auction. No information was given. In one of my photographs I show it in a display box. That is how it was when I obtained it. In that same photo is the back of the box. Someone glued. What appears to be part of a cardboard box, to the back. The picture has no writing on it. Unfortunately, whoever made this display glued the top and bottom of the box together. I had to slip a knife between them and it definitely caused damage to the display box, all hidden when closed. I did not cause any damage to the contents nor to the card on the bottom. Inside was the lure plus a paper from Pflueger. That is my only clue this could be a Pflueger. It appears to have been sand-casted. The swivel I show in close-up is the most crudely made one I have ever seen. I'm sure this is a very old piece. I don't know that the ... morehooks are original. Pflueger Conrad Frog AWESOME RELIC Vintage Fishing Lure Bait Antique Collectable
Up for auction is a vintage. Used Conrad Frog manufactured by Pflueger Fishing Tackle. Pre-1905 these baits were made of pressed cork. This bait is made of rubber which dates the bait after 1905. Bait measures 3" Finish is a frog pattern that still retains it original scheme. Due to its age the rubber has hardened which has lent the bait to crazing, the least of which is on top. This bait is of the weedless variation noted by the weed guards added to the 2 single tail hooks. Hooks show some corrosion. Bait has the legs tied to the hooks apparently to keep hooks in striking and weedless position. I have seen other Conrads that had the feet lashed to the hooks and believe this possibly is a factory modification. This Conrad has one foot tied with a matching green thread. The right foot is missing and the leg has been re-lashed to the hook ... morewith black thread. The evident repair really adds character to this bait. This bait is in amazing shape for its age and really displays well. Very hard to find this bait. Great conversation piece. It would make a great addition to a collection. Vintage 1950's? New in Box Pflueger 5" #9546 Eel Finish Lure w/Nice Original Box
Very nice minty new Pflueger# 9546 Eel Finish. 5 inch lure. The hooks, with that rust residue is the only thing that makes this bad boy NOT Mint, along with the paint crackling around the weight hole. I assume there's a weight in there and I also assume that this occurs in lures that have been stored for so long. As far as the family knows Dad NEVER had this lure in water and the rusting on the hooks is presumed there because of where this plug was stored, in the basement laundry room high on a shelf in a larger box. If the weight plug area doesn't do this normally in most weighted lures than that would blow my theory and maybe this guy did hit water. I honestly don't think so. We think Raymond's Sporting goods was a store in the Boston area where Dad may have actually gotten the piece. We don't know why cuz he only fished ... moreas a child and this would have been much later in life. 1950's? The paint job is absolutely immaculate and I've tried to go over this very closely and I can only see tiny. Minute factory imperfections, NOTHING MAJOR. hi what i have is one lure for sale this is a Pflueger McMurray metal lure with a yellow horse hair tail see image 4 the name of the lure is very hard to read-I needed a looking glass to finally read the name and maker of the lure on the copper side of the lure see image 3 the lure has 2 treble hooks hidden in the tail the metal measures 4 inches and the full lenght from the tie one to the last hook is 9 inches th lure also has 2/0 printed on the copper blade the tail is nice and full see image 2 Thank you for viewing my lure.
