Vintage Old Pflueger Golden West Fly Reel Bakelite & German Silver Estate Find
Here is what I think is a Pflueger Golden West fly reel. The only marking on this is 60 on the bottom of the heel. Which I think is the amount of string it will hold, 60' Reel is fresh out of an estate and needs to be cleaned up, but I think its overall condition is better than average. The metal looks good, no deep marks in it that I see, just needs to be polished up. Bakelite looks good, just a bit dirty and has some old tape residue. Looks like one of the gear caps is missing. Measures 2 1/2" across. Neat old piece, fresh out of an estate.

This is a vintage Pflueger Supreme bait cast fishing reel. I cannot find a model number on it. It does seem to work. It is marked it was made in USA. The handles are kind of a pearlized or marble bakelite I think. One is an orange with dark spots in it and the other is a yellow with green in it. It is in used condition. It does need some clean up. You are bidding on this antique PFLUEGER EVERLASTER fishing reel. It is right out of a local Minneapolis estate sale. This is an early reel. It would clean up well. This reel is huge. The reel spool measures approx. 4.5" in diameter and is 3" wide across the spool. The reel appears to be in good overall condition. It has a great worn and aged patina. It shows sign of use and age with light scratching and corrosion/oxidation to metal parts. It is nicely stamped PFLUEGER EVERLAST on the side of the spool. And stamped PFLUEGER on the reel axis. The reel is marked 400 on the bottom of the pole guide. The reel appears functional/operational and it spins well. It has a good loud clicker and action on moving parts. Oh. What a shame, what a shame, what a shame. This beautiful reel specifies that it's Bakelite. And comes with its original box and instructions. HOWEVER. It has a piece broken off of it. Clearly it split into two pieces, as I have about 1/2 of the"missing link" but not the other half. The reel itself is intact, but it has a chunk broken off. See pics. Comes in its original box. Vintage Old PFLUEGER AKRON 1895 - Casting Reel Collectable Tackle Display Clean
Item is used. The crank might be from a different model Pflueger. Or maybe it was an extra that came with it- not sure. When I got it, it had already been cleaned up, have only used it as display. It does show signs of past use- there are surface scratches on tail plate and head plate, a couple small dings, 1 on the crank screw/ button, another on the oil cap. There is also a small area of boat rash on the top rim/ edge of the head plate, and some marks, discoloring on pillars. There may be other small imperfections, please see detailed pics. Vintage Pflueger Medalist No. 1495 single action fly reel. This is the rarer version with the round line guide. It come with the original box. Manual, tag, and line winding instructions. The condition is good+ only because of worn paint finish. The reel works perfect. And drag very functional. It has some nicks, rubs. The box top is solid with some wear. Bottom has a slight crush(picture) Manual has wear on front page the rest of it is in very good++, excellent condition. Please check pictures. And email me with any questions. Pflueger Sea Lion 1778: Trolling and Surfcasting Reel.
This Pflueger Sea Lion 1778 reel is aimed at the Great Lakes. Columbia River, Alaska and Saltwater markets. The reel side plates are made of thermosetting plastic(bakelite-type that will not warp or melt with heat) The reel is approximately 3 1/4" in diameter and the spool is 2 1/8" wide. Crank handle turns freely- as does the crank knob. Actually. Everything mechanical is perfect. One only has to get past the cosmetic appearance of a couple little scratches and the lack of real chrome on the perimeter of the spool. The side plates, and other chromed metal looks decent. Loud clicker for hearing that"lunker" on line against the noise of the boat motor, water slapping and noisy fellow fishermen. Conventional star drag sets accurately(and stays there!
