Welcome! Up for auction is a very nice Pflueger Progress Fly Reel. Most of these reels were powder coated. Then there were the older ones that were made of brass. I cant remember the year for these reels but to be honest they are some of my favorite reels to use on my old bamboo rods. You can use this on a glass rod as well. I had this reel buffed out a few years ago it has been sitting with my other equipment untouched for about 2 years now. If you got a few mins and a buffing tool you will have a true shinner. The bakelite handle is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The drag is tight and free spool is nice and smooth. But with the single grip& counter balanced handle, and the lack of a level wind mechanism, I would have to guess that it's a fairly early reel(perhaps the 1920's) It's in good to VG condition, and it is marked"Pflueger Buckeye" with the Pflueger Bulldog trade mark. The grip on the handle looks like bone or ivory, but could be plastic(not sure if plastic was available then) The right side plate has 4 screws, and two of them have wide washers on the outside. Up for bid is one vintage PFLUEGER Nickel Plated Trout/Fly Reel with Clicker. Drag and 2:1 Geared Multiplier, and 80 yard line capacity. The reel has nickel plating over brass. The plating is in fair condition. There is a clicker controlled by a slide button on the back plate. And a second slide button controls drag. It is in good working condition. The handle appears to have a hard rubber knob. It is not marked to as to manufacturer. But the foot design is that used by PFLUEGER. It measures 2-3/16" diameter, 2-11/16" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-9/16" long by 9/16" wide. On the bottom of the foot the number"80" is inscribed. It weighs 5.6 ounces. Vintage Pflueger Sal Trout Reel in Original Box Excellent Cond could be New NICE
I don't really know how to officially determine the box condition. But I'm going to guess Fair to Good with one corner split(on bottom half) bruises, worn edges and it does have a slight musty odor from storing in less than ultra perfect conditions for many, many years. I think I can officially say that the slight odor is not offensive, but it's there and this item is from Dad's smoke free home. Original box and reel number 1558 on both box and reel. The reel itself looks GREAT and possibly used. But not much if at all.don't know how to determine that. Patent number 1.899,914. Perfect wooden knobs and the metal on this thing is only slightly magnetic. Does this mean that the base metal is stainless steel with a nickel plate?I would love to know. Pflueger Interocean saltwater cating reel in fair used condition. The spool has the brass showing and there is wear on the foot. Pillars and handle. A little cleaning will make this a really nice real to use or place on your shelf. The thumb drag also has the Pflueger Bull Dog Logo on it, but could not get it to show on picture.

Rare Antique Pflueger High Pillar- Nickle Plated Reel With Counter Balanced Crank. This is one of the few reels manufactured by The Enterprise Mfg. Co that only bore the Pflueger name and not a model name. The reel appears to be an early 1900's reel. The reel foot measures 2½ inches long. Spool width 1-3/8 inches, head diameter 2" from pillar to pillar and weighs 4.5 ounces. The reel is marked with a 80 yard line capacity. Unusual for Pflueger to make a reel with out oil caps to adjust the end play of the spool. The reel would grade an 8 on appearance and 9 mechancially on the ORCA Reel Grading scale of one to ten. Some minor light rust spots as noted. Fair clicker and drag. The black colored crank knob is very good condition. The reel is very smooth. This model has the wide arbor spool so it easily holds 200 yds of backing and a heavy line. There are signs of wear on the back and edges. But this reel(including the drag system) works beautifully.
