Here is a South Bend 3 hook Vacuum Bait in its Correct Box. Box top is solid all but one corner. The bottom is all solid with a slight dent in one corner. It is a bit dirty. I have not attempted to clean it. The Right eye is Perfect. The left eye has a hairline and there are various paint age line cracking and chips on the body. Displays Very Nicely atop its Box. Vintage Handmade Muskie Musky Minnow South Bend "Woodpecker" Lure - Great Hook!
Last vintage Musky lure I am auctioning this week. This one is clearly inspired by South Bend's Classic Woodpecker Bait. But, this one is designed for Musky, Pike or"large" Largemouth Bass Fishing. The form has character and the yellow and red paint scheme is pleasing. One nice aspect of this lure is the beautiful, weedless feathered treble the maker used to really set this bait off. Also, to me, the fact that it presents only one hook(solely the rear treble) also is visually different and appealing for this size of lure. Note the very wide collar which would really turn up the water if"popped" on the surface. This one's likely of interest and appeal to both fish and tackle collectors. The fishing lure is red and white and roughly 3 inches long with two treble hooks hanging off of it. I do not see any makers marks on the lure itself. This lure was found in a box that is marked"South Bend Bait Co" and"The South Bend Bass-Oreno Trademark 973" I am not sure exactly how old this is but it looks to be on the older side. South Bend Bass Oreno Circa 1923, Wood Antique 3 Treble Hook Fishing Lure
From what I have been told. This is a South Bend, Bass Oreno, Circa 1923, Wood Antique 3 Treble Hook Fishing Lure. From a collection which we need to sell. Have many of these old lures to sell, but decided to sell them one at a time since then whoever wants them can pick. Will be happy to send several together to save on shipping. The wood body without the treble hooks is about 3.75 inches long and just under one inch thick. Please know I am not a fisherman and not an expert on these lures.
