Our use of the word"multiple" means the lure has a combination of in excess of(10) blemishes. We counted 6-7 small nicks with a faint hook swing at the tail. RARE! UNID South Bend ?? Weedless Pork Rind Chunk Minnow Frog Hook Harness Lure
The consensus currently on this vintage lure is that it was factory made- Could it be an unidentified weedless weighted frog or pork chunk harness by South Bend? We'll likely never know. But check out the painted, weighted weedless hook- on its own merits, though painted white, it sure looks South Bend! Unidentified or unknown old baits are nice to have and own. Heavy and unique in design and nicely made and painted. I would think it was used either as a weighted frog harness or a diving pork chunk bait. It would be a great addition to a hook, pork rind, pork chunk, frog harness or minnow harness collection. Because I had always thought it to be a hand made frog. Pork chunk or pork rind hook harness, it is pictured in the book"Patented Hooks. Harnesses and Bait-Holders- Identification and Value Guide" by Jeff Kieny in a group ... moreshot on page 246. This offer is for a SOUTH BEND SURF-ORENO IN ITS ORIGINAL BOX. This lure is marred with bite marks and hook pointers. But is complete and has no large areas of missing paint(please see pictures) Nice color pattern. The lure is about 3 3/4" long. I inadvertently did not show a photo of the other side of the lure. The eye on that side is missing paint. They are metal eyes. Judging from what look like bite marks. This lure was probably used for large pike or muskies. The box is in very good shape. This is a South Bend Midge-Oreno Lure in a black color. Ido not have a box for this lure. It is selling exactly as pictured. I come across many of these and I have not seen a black one in a few years so I think they are getting a little hard to come by. There is a littel white showing around one of the eyes and a little scratch on the other side below the eye. All the metal is good an solid. None of it is popping off. I think it's in decent shape. BASS ORENO This lure is from South Bend and is the 3 3/4" long BASS- ORENO. The paint is red head. Cream body with the tac eyes and 3 treble hooks. The paint is slightly"crazed" nose is not chipped but there's some chipping around the belly hook hardware. 1 vintage South Bend Paw Paw jointed wooden lure. Lure is 5 in. long. South Bend" is printed on the lure's back while"Paw Paw" appears on the lure's metal lip. There are several small imperfections on the lure. The most noticeable is 2 paint chips on the front of the 2nd half of the lure- 1 on top and 1 by the hardware that connects the 2 halves.
