This is a South Bend spin casting lure. The condition is very good. Appears to have never been used. My knowledge about fishing lure is minimal so the pictures will have to tell it all. This auction includes the rare non-cataloged Wounded Minnow wood lure carefully packaged for the winner. The lure comes from our good friend J.V. and his lifelong collection. Watch for lots of lures and lots lots more! LURE MARKINGS: The lure is unmarked. As explained in the book on South Bend lures. This came from either an EMPLOYEE or is considered EXPERIMENTAL. The ... morelure is non-cataloged. The age is unknown but believed to be post-1936 as that's when South Bend began using Tack Eyes. WOUNDED MINNOW" LURE CONDITION: The lure measures aprox. 3-3/4" long. Both props are unmarked as is the leader wire. The non-cataloged lure is the combo of the Injured Minnow and the Wounded Minnow only bigger. Note the longer tapered body style. This one also has a flat bottom. This Aluminum paint rubs easy so you can see tackle box rubbing throughout. The Tack Eyes both have paint wear or chipping. With lure facing right we see a nice looking side as there are no serious nicks just pin prick size nicks above the eye. No major paint loss anywhere. The top has the general rubbing of the paint and just a few small scattered nicks. The left side looks good. There's a small paint flake in front of the eye. One nick near the tail. The belly of this must have laid in the tackle box and is very soiled as compared to the rest of the lure. The hooks and hardware are aged and tarnished as seen. SOUTH BEND"Fish-Oreno" Wood Lure in Pike Scale Up for your consideration is this VINTAGE SOUTH BEND"FISH-ORENO" WOOD LURE in PIKE SCALE w/GLASS EYES. This auction includes the"Fish-Oreno" wood lure with Glass Eyes carefully packaged for the winner. The lure comes from our good friend J.V. and his lifelong collection. Watch for lots of lures! This is a collection of over 2.000 lures! LURE MARKINGS: The top of the dive lip is NOT marked. The age is believed to be 1920's or 30's era and an older version. FISH-ORENO" WOOD LURE CONDITION: The lure measures aprox. 3-1/4" long. This version has the GLASS EYES! Both eyes are slightly aged with light rubbing but NO cracks or hairlines in either glass eye! The original leader wire is fully attached and slightly bowed. The dive lip is made of NICKEL SILVER ... moreand has general use with scratching. This one displays best facing to the RIGHT. The"Fish-Oreno" lure has what we call"General Use and Aging" scattered throughout. You can see the Fisherman use and aging of the older lure in the photos. Our use of the word"multiple" means the lure has a combination of in excess of(10) blemishes. General use blemishes include the following: Small hook nicks. Hook swings, scratches, hairline scratches, paint wear areas, rubs, paint loss or paint flakes, and soiling scattered throughout as seen below. There are scattered crazing lines as seen throughout. The hooks and hardware are aged and tarnished as seen. Remember, the lure has a combination of all these things. Much of the nicking is on the belly side with nicking below the mouth.
