RARE FINISH South Bend Pike-Oreno Antique Vintage Wood Fishing Lure
Here we have a nice example of a very tough to find South Bend Jointed Pike-Oreno. First of all. The Jointed Pike-Oreno was only manufactured for two short years 1941-42, right smack during WWII. Secondly, the SILVER HERRING SCALE FINISH found on this bait was only available between 1939-1942. I've collected SB baits for over 30 years, and rarely came across this finish on any lures, let alone in this nice condition. Review all provided photos for overall condition of this fine lure. Add this scarce finish to your collection today. These baits in this particular color don't pop up too often. Vintage South Bend Tackle Co. Coho Lure Kit. Unused in original package
Here's a great find from an old tackle shop on the shores of Lake Ontario. This Kit contains 3 lures. 1 Rapala like lure stamped Finland. The lure has age cracks and a spot- on the back where the finish came off. The lips on these lures break off very easy! I will pack it as best I can to try to prevent this. I have 6 of these all are broke off just from being stored and moved around. 2 is a Babe-Oreno. Very nice, but the white is discolored near the tail. This lure would not have been- my pick for a salmon lure. But I never tried one and don't know anyone who has. The third is a Super Duper- which is in nice shape. The box has some wear and is a little dirty and has some small spots inside. All this should show in the pictures. But don't be afraid to ask questions. This kit was never sold. This is a Red and White lure with hinged body that is 4 3/4" long. I believe this to be a South Bend lure but have not been able to identify from the book I have. The lure has no markings of anykind. The piece is used and hook and connectors have some corrosion and lure body has some crazing and yellowing of the white paint. The lure has original detachable hooks that are correct and marked on the box(SD) The original tough to find blue catalog is present. The correctly marked box is clean and sturdy overall, but does have a little damage to the top and top edge.
