I also applied U-40 Cork Seal to the handle. There is very little rust anywhere. Also, the cork is in great condition, especially considering the rod is over 70 years old. The guides are kind of bent but still fully functional. There are 3 guides (including the tip). All guides are tight. The copper windings are firmly in place. The cork grip is 4 1/4 in. The rod has a slight bend just below the tip top. There is no cracks in the plastic pieces above the handle. The rod weighs 9.6 oz.

The four-sided stainless steel rod shaft is excellent in its original wooden frame. The unique handle has patent number 1920966. Which was issued in 1933. The handle is carmel and maroon bakelite( The rod shaft screws into the handle, then is secured by adjusting a knurled nut in the forward section of the handle. Another knurled nut adjusts the reel seat. This rod is from Orchard Industries Inc. Detroit 12, Mich. It comes on its original wood frame and in its original heavy canvas bag. Vintage 3 piece brookdale fishing rod. It has a cork handle with red glass inside eyelets. It say's Brookdale on the handle it also say's made in USA! The tip eyelet has a separation. There appears to be a tiny screw hole in the handle. I would be happy to answer any questions. Comes with a spreader that looks primitively made. Vintage American Fork and Hoe Co. Square Steel Fishing Rod Speedlock Handle Here is vintage fishing pole/rod made by the American Fork and Hoe Co. It is square steel rod and it is 4' 7" long with handle attached. it is a baitcaster open reel handle. The handle has a Patented Speedlock with a patent# 1534674 The handle is aluminum with a cork handle with a metal end cap. the front knob is cracked from age and is held together with black electrical tape. The rod is steel and has several markings on it and they are Pat# 80950. 1755159, and the word OXFORD. The rod condition is ok but would need to be restored. the paint has been removed from the rod from the first guide to the handle insert. All guides are present but has green corrosion on one. the other two and tip guide are fairly clean based on the age of this rod. The remainder ... moreof the rod is white with red paint on the wrappings. the are several chips on the white and red paint. A nice item for restoration. Here is a very rare and desirable Bristol Steel fishing Rod catalog up for sale. Not exactly sure of date but would guess around 1914-1918 as during those year Philip R. Goodwin did many illustrations for the Horton Mfg. Co. This catalog depicts a classic image done by Goodwin of three men in their camp tending to their daily duties. The catalog itself measures 10" by 7 1/4" and contains 41 pages. About half of the pages in the catalog have nice illustrations of different rods. Reels and fishing line spools, check out the color prints for the fishing line spools as they are really appealing. The overall condition of this catalog in very nice as the photos show, some light creases ... moreand edge wear on the front and back covers but overall the covers are very nice. The two staples for the binder remain in tact, there is separation along the binder from the top to the first staple. The inside pages are all in very nice condition with only minor blemishes. The tackle box measures about 18 1/2" by 7 1/2" by 7" tall. This two metal trays on the inside; the top tray has 7-2 1/2" compartments and the 2nd tray has 2-2 1/2" compartments and one 12 1/4" This has a ring mounted to the front to rest your fishing rod in. For your consideration.This is a vintage,Ca 1930's Bristol Steel 108"39 1/2" closed)telescoping fly rod in near mint condition with original cloth cover with tag that has some issues with a 17" tear and one hole not shown.There are no bending problems and the 4 sections are slightly tight,but telescope perfectly.The top 3 sections appear to be copper(or at least copper clad.The lower section is painted in green.The eyelets are soldered into place and are nearly flawless except for one small(1/8" x 1/16" loss and retain their original shiny chrome surface.The cork handle is clean and flawless.This rod does not appear to have ever been fished and if it was,it was very seldom. The original cloth case is showing it's age with a 17" split and one area with some small holes(not pictured)The tag is still very ... morelegible with the Bristol name and instructions for care on the reverse side of the tag. The rod weighs in at 9 ozs. I just have never personally seen a vintage Bristol rod in better condition and this would be worthy of any collection.The man who originally purchased this was born in 1912 and the elderly niece I purchased this from believes her uncle acquired this in the 1930's. AMAZING UN-USED STEEL HEDDON VINTAGE FLY FISHING ROD!!!
Times are tough and kills me to let this one go! I have a large collection of vintage fishing gear that I have been selling of on a daily basis. This rod is about as clean as it gets and has been a prized piece for years. This is a good one! I purchased this rod many years ago for my Father. Sadly. He never had a chance to use it so I added it to my collection. It has never been used! The only time it had a reel on it was while I had it hanging on the wall. It is made from tubular steel and it is extremely light. It comes with the original tube and sock. There are only a few small scuffs on a ferrule. The tube shows ware from being in a garage for years but it is original and solid. The sock is original as well. It is 9' and is marked# 2030-9' and Heddon pal. I hate to sell it but times are tough and I need the $ more than I need ... moreanother vintage rod. Don't let it get away! You may never find another in this condition! Vintage 3pc Steel Fishing Rod, Unknown Mfg, Travel Rig? Red Glass Eyes Lure Reel
Very Early Metal Rod- Unknown Maker This looks like it was one of the first"travel rods" It breaks down into three 20" sections. And it's about 4' 8 1/2" long when assembled. It has a metal/steel blank, a cork grip with a metal reel seat that has a trigger grip on the underside. There is also a metal cap on the butt of the rod. It has 3 metal eyes with red glass inserts. One of the inserts is missing, and there is a crack in the metal loop that holds the reel in place. Other than that, it's in pretty good condition and displays well.
