With exceptional craftsmanship and paint these lures present themselves extremely well. All lures in the Kieny collection by this maker were originally found in a partitioned Pflueger dealer box in the floor rafters of the basement in a house located in north Pittsburg. Pennsylvania PA. The house had been scheduled for demolition, and, fortunately for us collectors, these great fisherman made lures were salvaged. This is the next lot of several I will be adding in the next weeks, so be sure to check back often. This pair is so special that each is shown both on page 169 of the Siblings and Collections Section AND the Books Title Page itself. That's right. The title page. Note the screw secured. Hand cut tin diving lips and the exceptional quality red scale type paint jobs. Also sit back and think about how the maker actually crafted the ... morefixed wire-through construction in both directions. I cannot imagine hand crafting these lures. The bulls-eye paint eyes are also sweet. You just rarely find hand rendered. Fisherman made folk art copies which I call"vintage folk art classics. of this kind of build and paint quality. If you collect Heddon plastic or wood River Runts, Heddon Vamps, Baby Vamps or Heddon facsimilies don't miss this chance to add a GREAT pair to your collection. Unfortunately. The actual maker has never been identified. The sweet paint jobs, great build quality(with many like the Basser having recessed glass eyes) make these special among other"copycat" Co. lures made by fisherman who couldn't afford a store-bought example. Check out the GREAT, raised" spotted paint on the Basser- it also features a deeply carved out mouth painted red so if used on the surface at all, it will definitely bulge the water! Vintage Heddon Joint Vamp Plug Lure. This Vintage Heddon Lure was produced in Dowagic. Michigan by James Heddon's Sons. An excellent lure for Bass fishing, Trout, Salmon and Salt Water. Lure is in excellent condition. With Heddon Joint Vamp stamped on the underside in green lettering. There is no rust or paint chipping, a little tarnish on some of its hardware, some crazing due to age. Hooks are very sharp. Original box on the other hand has quite a bit of wear. There is a tear in the side that has a piece of clear tape on it. Other than that. There is slight discoloration to it as seen in photos. Please ask questions before bidding if you need to. This is a fabulous representation of the 1920-1930's. Everytime I look at this picture this song keeps going over in my head-Hard hearted HANNAH, the vamp from SAVANNAH" remember that? Now, that WAS before my time but I've heard it before! Picture measures 8x10 and I believe I would call this sepia tone, not exactly black& white but you be the judge. Picture has a few very minor creases but no tears. There are a few places on the left side where something might have stuck to it but hardly shows. On the back of the picture is: Orcajo Photo Art Service, 303 Keowee Street, Dayton, Ohio. There is some age darkening on the back. The green frame has quite a bit wear but is all intact. It is only connected on one side where I have shown it open. There is no glass, just a plastic film which, I'm almost sure is the original-it ... morehas yellowed in time. There is also a black sheet under the picture and"mottled" on the reverse side. The back of the frame used to have an easel for standing, there are two male snaps on the back but the flap section is missing. On the left bottom back corner of the frame is a sticker that says: Insert Photo. Use Vertical or Horizontal By Snapping Easel On Either Post. I used to have the guitar version of this unit and this one. Only problem is i had only one power supply. Sold the guitar unit a while ago along with the power supply.
