Both have been used but likely in some attic because of better age& better condition as I found them. The one with NO EYE measures 3 inches. This one is known as"OLE BLACK JOE. It retains its chrome Butt Pin. it also has the old fashioned tie line addition. MY Opinion is that this is the sweetest of the two. The one with unbroken Glass Eyes is also known as a Best Ever"OLE BLACK JOE. It also has its chrome pin. There is a most interesting history on these Indiana-Ohio fishing lures. Mr. Carter obtained his patents in about 1919. It is suspected his later"partner" Mr. Dunkleberger, was responsible for including glass eyes into these Antique lures. YOU decide. The fly reel seems to be all there. Box also contains several old wooden lures in rough shape. A metal spoon or two, and a few other vintage fishing items. Box has some of the original logo left. An old Devon lure from 1900s is part of this lot. One is a Burrell-lure from the 1940s. Up for auction is a vintage JC Higgins metal tackle box full of fishing tackle. The box is 13 1/2 inches by 7 inches by 7 inches with two trays that swing up when you open it. The box itself is in solid condition with some dents in the top and scratches overall from age. The latches all work good there is no key. The handle is good. The inside of the box is in great condition and very usable. There is about 15 or more packages of hooks some are full some only have a couple of hooks. some are vintage some are from the seventies. There are two fishing licenses from 1974-75. There is about 15 various fishing lures a couple of them are vintage wood. There are a bunch of sinkers swivels and miscellaneous fishing items.
