I personally used this rod one time. Before me- it appeared unused. I took this to Gustavis Alaska this last August to visit my brother who was working at Glacier Bay National Park. He informed me that i would need a good trout rod. As right behind the park- there was an inlet, and he was catching Beautiful little Dolly Varden, and Sea Run Cutthroats on a regular basis when he was not working. I was all over it- and this rod was easy to transport- right in my luggage- for the flight up there. Let me tell you- it fishes like a dream! Very sweet light action- I was able to snag 4 of the Dollys- all about 1-2 pounds. Holy smokes- what fun that was. The rod performed better than I expected. Really nice to catch a fish on. More on the rod- as I said- it appeared unused when I got it several years ago. I bought second hand- and it has been sitting ever since- as I never had a chance to get away. I made darn sure to take extra special care of it while I was using it. As it is in such sweet condition. I would love to call it mint condition, but can not as i know I used it. However- It is so near mint- with no damage to note. A real sweetheart for sure. Set it up for fly- or spin fishing. You are sure to have a blast with it. This rod has been what I call preserved, with the nice aged look of the original silks under the original varnish. All varnish was carefully scraped off the bamboo, however, retained over all the original silks to give the look of an original aged rod, while getting 2 fresh dips in varnish to ensure it is water tight. One snake guide at the bottom of the mid was replaced and rewrapped with new silk, however, tastefully matched against the original silk look. There is one scratch on the reel seat and one tip is down 2.5 inches(pictured) Includes original cloth sack in perfect condition, and the original aluminum tube in very very good condition, with a decent label, you don't see many tubes in this good of shape. The rod casts a 6 weight DT modern fly line beautifully. All sections are equal length(except the one tip) straight as an arrow, reel seat functions well, ferrules are great and pop with no clicking during casting. If you want a Granger to fish this is it. All the wraps look great and are an original aged wrap. The cork looks good, though suffers from some soiling and use over time, it could be cleaned if that is the look you want, varnish looks great. Completely restored and preserved. This is one heck of a great looking rod and it is ready to fish as is. This rod. For those that don't know is positioned as an upper mid-grade rod and used bamboo that was not quite good enough for the Registered and Deluxe but better than the Special, and way better than the Victory or Champion. The 9" length in my opinion is great for the fisherman out there, rather than the collectors. Let the collectors keep paying way to much for the shorter rods that don't have the length to high stick or mend the way a fisherman needs to catch fish. The shorter rods, may cast a little better, but I would be willing to bet these longer rods catch more fish, since

The Tube is in GOOD Condition with some wear and a Fairly Clear Decal and Both End Caps. The rubber butt cap is in VERY COOD Condition and marked JOHN GLIEBE 1154 MYRTLE AVE.BROOKLN NY. THE cork handle Looks VERY GOOD with EXCELLENT Maroon Paint and GREAT Working Reel Seat. The Decal on the rod is about half missing. The main portion is pained a beautiful burgundy color and is probably aluminum. The cap threads onto the case. The rod itself is in excellent condition. When I was shooting the photos I noticed an area section on one of the tip sections that looks likes a repair(see last photo) it is about 2 ½” long. Other than I see no breaks. Missing parts or repairs. Please see photos to determine condition and ask questions. I could not find any information that would date this model. The 1950 on the label would indicate a 1950 or later date? 1/21/13 A friend sent me these off of a forum today The only major addition by the Wright& McGill Rod Co. came in 1952 with introduction of the impregnated series of Water Seal rods. Up for auction is an antique handmade 1946 Wright& McGill Stream& Lake 3 piece Fly Fishing Rod. It has an extra tip with it. Needs some professional work. I have the original white sock it came in I will ship with the rod. 1) T he nickel silver reel seat design was patented in 1938. The Stream& Lake was introduced in 1947. 2) Goodwin Granger(1889– 1931) designed the Champion Grade in 1933 in his company before Wright& McGill purchased the company and changed the name of the“Champion” grade to“Stream& Lake” 3) Wright& McGill leased the Goodwin Granger Company in 1946 and the sale to W&M wasn’t complete until 1958. They purchased the Goodwin Granger name because they could not get a market for their bamboo rods like Granger had. 4) In 1947 the W&M Company issued their first catalog and changed the“Champion” Grade ... morename to“Stream& Lake” 5) Eagle Claw” is a subsidiary of Wright& McGill primarily dealing in hooks and then fiberglass rods. Marshall Fields One Striper made by Wright McGill. This rod is a Granger Victory 8040 made for Marshall Fields in Chicago. As you can see. One tip is missing. The bag and tube are not original. The mid ferrule moves 1/16 of an inch when the rod is disassembled. It appears someone tried to fill a couple dings in the cork. I tried to show them in the photo. The rod is better then the description sounds but I'd rather understate it and avoid a disappointed buyer. Please ask if you have questions.

Wright& McGill WME Fly Rod- 954(9 ft. 5 wt, 4 pc) I have only fished this rod two or three times. It has been my back-up rod for a couple of years and is in Excellent Condition! Listen to this Testimonial by. On the river. The rod performed very well and I landed several decent size rainbows in swift water with no problems. I'm always afraid of flinging a rod section off into the wild blue on a 4 piece rod, but the snug fit of the sections prevented any such occurrence. I paired the rod with a G Loomis Venture 5 reel since I didn't have a W&M reel to pair it with. I need to get my hands on one of their Dragon Fly reels to make the setup complete. I'm constantly amazed by the quality out of mid cost range rods these days. Manufacturers like Wright& McGill are really giving the big names a run for their money. This is ... moremy favorite segment of the market because I strongly believe that fly fishing is in the fly fisherman/women and not so much in the equipment. For those like myself who are more concerned with catching fish than impressing my friends. Rods like the WME954 are a perfect match. You can build an arsenal of fly rods without spending your retirement savings and be confident in the gear. Wright& McGill has an excellent lifetime warranty on their fly rods(with the exception of the plunge series) which rivals most of the big names as well. Should the fly rod fail due to material or workmanship. You simply return it for a replacement. If they no longer make the model you return, they will replace it with the current generation equivalent. Note to buyer: I do not have the W&M rod case(only the rod sock) To protect the rod during shipping. I will ship it in a G. Loomis case that is damaged but functional. Also. I don't know any more about it than what I learned through research. He was a rod builder and has done restoration in the past. I do not know if this rod has any restoration work. I left the patina so the photo of the rod seat are kind of hard to read. I assembled this rod just to measure it and would love to go fish it based on the beautiful action. NO RESERVE Auction Vintage Wright McGill Granger Victory 9 foot 3 piece. One tip ready to fish. This beautiful rod is ready to fish and priced so that you don't feel guilty fishing it. Many rods are collectibles and are never fished, just displayed or tucked away because they are too expensive or impossible to replace if broken. If you have always wanted to fish one of these collectible rods without the hefty price tag this is it. This rod appears to have been refinished by a professional. All the wraps are tight. Varnish is beautiful, ferules pop when removed. No clicking in the ferules when making casting motion. I was told this was refinished in an Aristocrat wrap rather than the traditional Victory wraps. Who knows why but a beautiful specimen. Check out the pictures where the flash worked with me and you will see how this rod will ... morelight up in the sunlight. This is a used rod, however, I can't find anything wrong with it. I would not call it mint but it is excellent in my opinion. Please ask questions if you have them. This rod comes with the vintage sock and(non original) aluminum tube. Not sure if the sock is original. If it is there is only room for the one tip. The rod tube is banged up but serves its purpose, protect the rod. Again this is a rod meant to fish, I hope someone else out there appreciates it and gets to land some monsters with it.

Here's a vintage box of Wright& Mcgill hand tied Wiltless Wing flies. I don't fly fish. But this was with my dads fishing gear that I inherited about 12 years ago. I just recently discovered them when cleaning the attic. There seems to be various sizes and types. Eight of them are loose, and then there are nine that are stuck in a piece of cardboard fastened to the bottom of the box. The box is about 3 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches, and is in fair shape, some wear, but all intact, except for the missing piece of cardboard that holds the flies on one side. Two Vintage Fly Rods Wright & McGill De Luxe and J. C. Higgins Interchangable
You are bidding on two vintage fly rods. Both are in very good shape. The eyes are solid and both rods are in good working condition. One is a very interesting rod. It is from J. C. Higgins. It has interchangable parts. You can either use it as a three-piece fly rod which is 8 1/2 feet long. It also has another end which can be used as a spinner rod. When this attachment is in place it is 5 1/2 feet long. The second is a vintage Wright& McGill De Luxe rod. It is 7 1/2 feet long. Both are very cool and in good shape. This is a vintage two piece fishing rod by Wright& McGill. Model# M-PRO-270-7 ft, Michigander Professional, with the EAGLE CLAW EMBLEM on the cork handle, all decals in excellent condition. Pole appears to have very little use. Aluminum on handle, shows minimum scratching, eagle emblem very nice, cork handle missing no cork, all eyelets look good. This piece should be in a collection, it is that nice. Please ask questions, or request additional photos if you want I can do that. Comes with a Zoom Loc Case. Vintage pre Eagle Claw Wright and McGill Stream and Lake 88A Spin Cast Reel
Greetings; Up for bids today is a Stream and Lake 88A spin cast reel. This reel is pre Eagle Claw manufactured by Wright and McGill out of Denver Colo. U.S.A. This reel is in fair condition for its age. The only problem is the anti-reverse does not function in reverse. I was unable to find a exploded view of this reel to see what part was missing if any. Outside of that everything else works well. There is some paint loss mainly on the edges. Not unusual for a reel of its age.There are no major scratches, dents, or signs of abuse.
