Wright McGill 3 Piece 2 Tips Bamboo fly rod 9 1/2 Feet Cigar Handle Pat. 1938
Wright and McGill 9 1/2 foot split bamboo. This rod has a total of four pieces but is a three piece split bamboo flyrod. The rod seat has Patent Date April 12 1938. Patent number 2 114 107 made in Denver Colorado. One tip is shorter than the other with new Tip guide and probably was broken at some point. All of the rod guides and original ferrules are complete on this flyrod. This rod has many loose guides and I think it could use some re wrapping or repair on rod guides and ferules. One rod guide has some string helping to hold it in but like I said above this rod needs attention. The ferules and rod seat have been cleaned and most of the brass look patina was removed. I was told that this was a Granger blank but I cannot confirm that I think this Rod is probably a 5 or 6 weight. For sale is a Wright& McGill Bamboo Fly Rod. The model is the"Granger Registered. This rod is used but is still in great shape and would make an excellent addition to any fly-fisher's rod collection. The rod is 9' long and is in 3 sections and includes an extra tip, the rod weighs 5 oz. and would be a perfect match for a 5 weight line. This rod has a couple of small scratches in the finish right above the rod name on the first section, I included a picture of each one at the end of the picture list. On the tube the model is listed as a RX 9050 and Wright& McGill is from Denver, CO. This rod comes with the factory tube and rod sock. This auction is for an antique 3 piece bamboo fly rod with sock and tube. Marked on the rod: GRANGER SPECIAL- WRIGHT& MCGILL- marked on the reel seat: PAT. APR. 12, 1938- PAT. NO. 2,114,107- MADE BY WRIGHT& MCGILL ROD CO. DENVER, COLO. U.S.A. and the label on the tube reads in part: GRANGER SPECIAL- GOODWIN GRANGER CO. DENVER, COLO. The specifications on the label have worn away and the CAUTION note is not completely readable. This fly rod measures 8 feet 6 inches and weighs 5.1 oz. and is in excellent condition appearing just very lightly used with no damages and no repairs that I can detect. It is very straight and the varnish looks original and is approx. 99% complete. There are no chips out of the cork and all 3 pieces are the same length. The sock is fine with a tiny hole in the mid section bottom and it shows some very light ... moresoiling. The tube has a small dent near the closed end and the cap may not be original but works ok. USA Rod comes with all 4 sections. Also furnished is a divided pocket cloth rod sack with hang tag loop and aluminum tube with screw cap. Please read carefully. I will try to describe the condition. Rod is very straight when together. It is very solid and fishable, I have owned this particular rod for over 24 years and have used it on several occasions including last season on the Truckee, and must say it still preforms wonderful. All of the ferrules have the ... morecorrect signature witness marks and a distinct audible“POP” when breaking down. The cane on all four pieces are in very nice shape. One tip is approximately ¼” short and the other approximately ½” short. Attention– they were professionally reset using their original Perfect Tip Company tip-tops. The very slight handicap in the length does not hinder the performance at all. The reel seat has a few small flaws. Dings, and scratches from mounting the reel and years of use. Reel seat mechanism is very smooth and secures the reel as intended. All thread wraps are tight and very well varnished. Cork handle has some repairs to flaws. This is a vintage Wright and McGill Eagle Claw Trailmaster M4TMU 7 1/2' Spin/ Fly Combination Fishing Rod! The rod itself is in pristine original condition. Not refurbished. I have owned it for many years, and never mounted a reel to it. It looks as though it was never used before I owned it, but I cannot verify that. The original yellow cloth sleeve is in excellent condition as well, showing no stains or wear. The original tube has light scuffs here and there, but no major defects and is in very good condition. It even still has the original price sticker on the tube. And the informational sticker on the cap! You'll probably not see a nicer example of one of these anywhere, thanks for looking and happy bidding!

Up for auction is a Wright and Mcgill split bamboo fly rod. This is a 3 piece. 9' rod with extra tip and includes the original bag and tube. The rod is in excellent condition, all sections are whole, guides are all in place, windings and varnish is in good shape, ferrules are nice and tight. The nickle silver reel seat is slightly tarnished and there is some ridging on the grip. Ernest Schwiebert Describes this rod in his book Trout Tackle Two. The rod is a Wright McGill 8A- 8' Fiberglass"Dandy" It is in pretty good shape as well, the eye wrappings are all intact but 2 of them have been sprung out of their bindings. No cracks or serious blemishes in the fiberglass. It came apart easily enough after years of being mated, I was pleasantly surprised. Cork and reel seat appear to be fine as well. Sold as- is. Up for sale is a vintage One Line Model 10-BC. This was made by the Wright& McGill Co in Denver. CO USA and is stamped with PAT#2,630,979. Is in fair shape, but could probably use a good cleaning. This piece has a very nice retro/vintage look and is a rare red color with a mostly metal construction with bacalite(or plastic) accents. It would look great hung on a wall or displayed on a shelf. There's still plenty of good fishing left in the reel. I purchased a large lot of vintage/antique fishing reels from an estate sale. I will be listing all of them for auction or buy it now soon. Eagle Claw Star Fire Downrigger Fishing Rod- SF400- 8 1/2' Used Wright/McGill Up for bids is a Eagle Claw Star Fire no. SF400 downrigger fishing rod. The 8 1/2 foot long rod has seen light use on Lake Michigan. The line guides all look good and the rod goes together well. There appears to have been added a metal collar on the rod tip where it joins with the handle section. Made in Taiwan. It was used for salmon fishing and had a Peen Peer 209 reel on it. The reel is also up for auction tonight should you be interested. Because of the length shipping to some foreign countries can be extremely expensive.
