This is a nice flexible rod. I found it interesting that it is square. The open reel has an image of a Bass on either side. This is very light. Maybe for fly fishing, but is only 5' long. VIntage Wright McGill Split Bamboo Rod with Two Tips
Vintage Wright McGill split ba mboo rod with 2 tips. Light and medium. This is a Stream and Lake model, made in Colorado. There is a stamp on the fly reel seat that says April 12, 1938 pat. This rod is very nice for its age. Eyes are intact. Bamboo is intact. Shows it's age on cork handle. Lower eye has a red agate eyelet with no cracks. This rod is about as good as it gets for as old as it is. Gentleman said it was his grandfather's. Tried to learn how to fly fish but never got the hang of it and put it away in the closet. Cardboard tube was discarded a long time ago I guess. It comes in a bag as seen in photo. I will ship in a Johnson Phillipson aluminum tube to protect this rod. This rod would be perfect for a wall hanger. new info this rod had a patent date of 1938 was mfg. after 1947 so it must have been in closet since 1948 ... morerod is right at 9ft long all 4 sect. are 36" long no splits or cracks that I can see Payment is expected within 24 hours of auction end UNLESS you contact me PRIOR to auction end. Up for bid is a vintage Eagle Claw Wright McGill Trailmaster 5-way 8 piece 6'9" rod number VM8TM with zipper case and warranty card. Please look closely at the pictures as it appears no reels have ever been attached to the rod(pictures 2& 3) However there are some marks on the some of the other sections of the rod. There is also a dent in the aluminum butt of one rod section that holds a reel(see picture 4) and an"Eagle Claw" badge is missing from the cork on the rod section that has the"Wright McGill" name/info. All eyes are intact without any bends. I am not sure marks and dent were caused while rod was in storage but overall rod is very clean. The original warranty card is included. Here are two Wright& McGill Trail Master Fishing Rods as shown. But one is missing the entire tip section and one has a bad cork handle. The four pieces in the top of the photo constitute a complete rod that on the butt section says Wright& McGill Trailmaster 6 1/2 Ft. No M4TMS. I am not sure if all four pieces of this rod are original, but all four fit together nicely and does make a complete rod. However, the tip section of this rod has been broken, but has been spliced and repaired nicely, so I wouldn’t think it would present a problem. Because of the repair, I think the rod is a little longer than designed, measuring 6‘ 71/2” long. The bottom half of the cork on this rod needs replacing as one side is missing most of the cork and there is no end cap on the end. The bottom three pieces in the photo constitute another rod that are ... moreoriginal, but no tip section(it has been broken off inside the female ferrule of the third piece) These three pieces are very nice and fit together nicely. On the second section of this rod it says Eagle Claw Trailmaster 7 1/2‘ 4 pc. spinning rod Wright& McGill. Besides missing the tip section, the first guide on the second section is missing the ring from inside the frame. See pictures as they will serve as part of the description. Vintage"Wright& McGill De Luxe 6 1/2 ft. No. 4468" casting rod in excellent, like new, condition. This rod is part of an estate. And its sole owner was an enthusiastic fly-fisherman. My guess is this rod dates from the early days of composite rods. It looks as if it was used a few times at most. As all of it is in mint condition This casting rod consists of two segments. The bottom half is 30 inches long. The cork handles look like-new The reel holder is in excellent, fully working condition, with shiny metal parts, and no corrosion, scratches or dings. The thin. Casting segment is 49 1/2 inches long, with the finish, seven line rings and their silk bindings in shinny new condition. The rods and finish throughout are in excellent condition. With no scratches, marks or damage of any sort. The cloth pole sheath is also in almost ... morenew condition. Very clean; has two pockets, one for each pole. This rods are ready to go fishing.
