Vintage PIRANHA FISH TAXIDERMY paper weight Collectible
You are bidding on a taxidermy Piranha paper weight with the Brazilian flag marker. It is about 4&1/2 inches in diameter and about 1 inch in height. There is a crack noted on the 4th picture not easily seen unless pointed out. Piranha are found in the Amazon basin. Orinoco, remote rivers of the Guyanas. Paraguay- Parana, and in the Sao Fransisco River system. All piranhas have a single row of sharp teeth in both jaws. T hey are tightly packed and interlocking via small cusps. These t riangular. Large Antique Mounted Fish This is a very old taxidermy fish that looks to be an Amberjack or something in that family of fish. The work was done by JT Reese Taxidermist in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Fish is about 37" long from tip to tail. It has some damage which I have tried to photograph. Such as chipped fins, the rear fin is split, one lower fin is starting to come loose and some cracking. This fish was caught at Lake Lochloosa in Florida on November 16th 1949. This fish is 65 years old. She is in great condition for being this old. Vintage Taxidermy Real Skin Striped Bass Fish Mount Huge 37 lbs.... 40" long
You are bidding on a Vintage stuffed Striped bass. The Striper is huge. It measures right at 40" in length and 17" from the top of the fin to the bottom of the dorsal fin.The fish weighed 37 lbs when caught. I'm guessing the piece is 20 years old. Its a nice Large piece that would look great over that fireplace in your cabin or in that man cave. The mount is older and does have a few minor issues. The fins have seen better days but still look good. The body is in overall good condition showing minor cosmetic issues. Nothing major or anything that detracts from hat awesome vintage look. This fish in itself is rare simply because it weighed 37 lbs. I know stripers get huge but I have never caught one this big. To have a few this size stuffed it would cost you at least $300. This fish was caught in the late 1960's in lower Canada by their late Father. The fish measures 39" long and approx. 7" wide. It is mounted on a board that measures 40" X 20" As seen in the pics, there is a little red missing on the tip of the tail fin and a place on the tip of the fin near the head. HUGE 29 inch Professional Taxidermy Walleye Fish Skin Mount on Driftwood
For your consideration is a beautiful professionally taxidermy skin mount walleye mount on a large piece of driftwood.This is a recent estate sale purchase from the home of an avid sportsman so we do not know what waters the fish was caught in. It is a nicely colored specimen with rich gold and greens. It is also a very thick fish as you can see from a photo showing the belly. It was difficult to capture the girth because it is mounted in a curved fashion. We measured it from the front with a soft tape measure running the tape from the bottom jaw running below the pectoral fin and rotating it slightly upwards to the bottom of the tail fin;thus following the curvature. It has mounting hooks on the back of the wood. It looks to be in very good condition as seen from the eyes of a novice to taxidermy fish etc. but it will need to be dusted a ... morebit. This Beautiful Trout measures 23 1/2 from nose to tail in the current arched mount. The fish if measured along the body with the curve is 25" long A very thick bull of a fish that protrudes at most 11" off the wall when hung The natural driftwood base measures about 22" from top to bottom As you can see the fish has split some on the back but it is not visible when hung I decided to leave it as is rather than repair with fiberglass or bondo like I have seen on ebay before. The tail has some minor wear from storage The fins are all solid but one of the back(Back meaning toward the wall. It is the front pectoral closest to the wall) fins has some crackling around base. It is not noticed when hung I am doing my best to give a complete and accrate descrition.
