Vintage 1970 Real Skin LAKE TROUT Wall Mount 41" long Taxidermy/Museum Quality
Vintage 1970 Lake Trout Mount by Taxidermist Ken Hawkins You are bidding a 1970 Lake Trout Mount. This mount is in great condition for it's age. And has museum quality. This is a type of mount that you might find in a Bass Pro Shop or Sporting Goods store. The mount measures 41 inches long and 16 inches in height. You won't find many fish over 40 years old in this good of condition. Please look below for a detailed description of the mount. The mount has a taxidermy label on the back. Ken Hawkins taxidermy mounted the Lake Trout in 1970. Hawkins was a well known taxidermist that did work for 60 plus years. Hawkins and his dad, Jack, did several mounts for the Manitoba Museum, their first mount was done in 1943. The date on the label was hand written: 7-10-70, and the mount originally was for"Grandpa Hefner. This is truly a piece ... moreof history and would look great on anybody's wall! The label also has the address of their Taxidermy Shop, 1793 Main Street Winnipeg 17. Manitoba. This was"Canada's Largest Taxidermist Shop" and became known as"The Shop with the Bear on Top" This is an Awesome piece of Vintage/Antique fishing decor! The condition of the fish: The top of the tail fin has a little bend to it. The top of back two fins are in great condition. The two wall side fins look like they were broken away from the skin but have been glued back into place. All the fins show some wear but nothing really noticeable. The REAL skin of the fish is in really nice condition. The back side of the mount has a small crack. Please look at all the pictures before bidding. It was caught by Ione Hayner on September 15. 1985 on Sucker Lake in Wisconsin It weighed 13lb 8oz. This was a catch of a lifetime for this gentleman and he clearly took care of the mount and took pride in the mount! Vintage Largemouth bass mount taxidermy real skin 22.5" long on wood plaque
Vintage large mouth bass taxidermy mount. It is about 22.5" in length. I think it was made in the 1970s or earlier. I bought it at an estate sale. I am farily certain it is real skin. It measures about 12" from the dorsal fin to the bottom of its body. It was a large fish. The mouth is about 4.5" open height. I tried to clean it with some compressed air and some used dryer sheets to get the significant amount of dust off. I was not overly successful. It has flared gills. The biggest flaws are the fins that are bent in some spots and possibly have pieces missing. The worst are the right pectoral fin and the bottom tail fin. There is only an eye on one side. I am sure it was supposed to be like that. The back has some filler where it was put together. Again I think it was made that way because that side wasn't supposed to ... morebe seen. I will try to pack as carefully as possible to keep from damaging the fins any further. The wood that it was mounted on is not of high quality and there are only a few screws holding it on. I don't know if the fish was actually caught in WI. But I would venture to guess so. It is a fixer upper. The biggest flaw is the tail fin has a tear. It appears someone attempted to repair the tear. And had no luck. The other fins have some damage also, I took close pictures of each fin to show any damage. Also there is one spot on his back where a scale flaked off leaving a bare spot. Along the jaw line there is a damaged area as well. Please look through the pictures carefully so you are able to determine if this fish is for you! He will be carefully packaged. This walleye is real and is 26 inches long and has a 16 inch girth. It has beautiful colors and will brighten up any wall in that special room. The back fin is rock solid but looks to have been creased at one time. I will take pictures and you can be the judge. This mount has the standard hanger on the back for a nail or screw and it also has 2 wires which can be bent out and they can go through holes in a piece of driftwood to be secured that way if desired. I purchased several mounts from a man who life had thrown him a curve. He said he had caught them all himself and they were all newer mounts. They just don't come any nicer than this. It is kind of hard to measure length on this one because he is curling away from you at the head and tail. It is all of 23 inches long and has a girth of 14 inches behind the gills and ahead of the front fins. The taxidermy is superb in my opinion. The gills are flared and the mouth is wide open. There are no broken fins or blemishes. This one is ready to hang. It is a real fish and not a replica. 19" Large Mouth Bass Taxidermy Stuffed Fish Real Skin Mount Illinois
It was my 30th Birthday May 14th 1996 and we'd had a great day on the water. In fact one of the best days we'd ever had. The sun was setting and we were all taking the gear off the boat and loading the cars. There was going to be at least an hour of filleting in front of us before an unprecedented feast. If you're a fisherman you know the"one last cast" routine. Walking back to the cars along the docks I flicked out my worn but trusty Rapala and let out the line so that when I walked it back to shore I could reel it all the way back in. Reaching shore I turned and started to reel pulling in all the loose line I'd let out when I noticed that the line I was reeling in was going out faster than I was reeling and BANG! I set the hook and the battle started. I quickly walked back up the docks to improve my position. My ... morebrothers. Uncles and cousins all noticed at the same time and I could see them out of the corner of my eye half interested and half jealous. The fish ran and pulled out line like a Pike and my reel screamed and rod bent. Get me a net" I yelled over my shoulder and they all scrambled. I only had 4lb line on this 6'6" medium action Abu Garcia so I had to let him run and follow him by running along the docks. After about 10 min everybody became convinced that I must have hooked a turtle because I was gaining line so slowly but I was bringing in line now, slow, but steady. Fatigue got the better of him then, I thought, and we were only in about 22' 25' of water here at the end of the docks. He was coming up but he was swimming up under the dock. I pushed my rod tip out to turn his head and get him away from the dock and when he broke the surface from the very edge of the dock he must have left the water by 2 feet. Splashing back into the lake he swam away from the net my Uncle Jesse had thrust into the water and started taking line again. Now that we'd all seen him we all became collectively paranoid that he was going to throw the hook or snap the line. I

This beautiful Georgia Largemouth weighed 9 pounds 10 ounces and set the record for Rock Bridge Lake back in May of 1961. See Plaque) I still don't think they've ever caught a fish this big since. This fish is massive. When you purchase this fish you will not only be purchasing a beautiful mantle piece, You will also be purchasing a Lake record holding fish. The fish measured 22.5 inches long with an 11 girth(up and down) I could not measure around the fish. The fish is mounted on a solid piece of oak which holds the fish nicely. Real Skin Largemouth Bass Mount- Around 19" Minor Damage- Great Cabin Decor! You are looking at a real skin largemouth bass mount from around 1990. The end of the tail is slightly broken. But still taped together with the tape that taxidermists use on the back of the fins(see pics) It really isn't that noticeable once it is hung. The bass is between 19" and 20" Tough to get an accurate measurement with the curvature of the mount. Comes with the driftwood and wall hanger. When this bass was caught it was a really yellow color as it is in the mount. It is not discoloration from age. It would be great for a cabin or man cave. Vintage Taxidermy Real Skin Striped Bass Fish Mount Huge 37 lbs.... 40" long
You are bidding on a Vintage stuffed Striped bass. The Striper is huge. It measures right at 40" in length and 17" from the top of the fin to the bottom of the dorsal fin.The fish weighed 37 lbs when caught. I'm guessing the piece is 20 years old. Its a nice Large piece that would look great over that fireplace in your cabin or in that man cave. The mount is older and does have a few minor issues. The fins have seen better days but still look good. The body is in overall good condition showing minor cosmetic issues. Nothing major or anything that detracts from hat awesome vintage look. This fish in itself is rare simply because it weighed 37 lbs. I know stripers get huge but I have never caught one this big. To have a few this size stuffed it would cost you at least $300. This fish was caught in the late 1960's in lower Canada by their late Father. The fish measures 39" long and approx. 7" wide. It is mounted on a board that measures 40" X 20" As seen in the pics, there is a little red missing on the tip of the tail fin and a place on the tip of the fin near the head.
