Here's what I know about this guy. The plaque reads: June 1975 Lac La Ronge Canada. Sask. Good Time Fishing Ok. Fishermen! What is it? Salmon, Trout, Pike? I'm having trouble identifying this but have been told it may be salmon. Real skin mount. From end of tail to tip of mouth, it's approximately 33" long. Measuring HALF of the body, he has a girth of 16" plump little guy! This comes with the lure you see hanging from his mouth BUT it is easily removable in case you wanted to place your own lure there. I'm sue a taxidermist could remove this from the large mounting board and re-mount this to a more modern look, if you like. There is thin cracking on the bottom(see photo) doesn't seem to be a major issue. Mounted on a wood(pine? board that measures 36" across. Hanging hardware attached. This is a mounted Walleye Caught in 1980 and was a record fish caught from Lake Erie on 7/20/1980. This monster measured 30 inches long and was 11 1/2 lbs. The back tail fin and the side and dorsal fins need attention. I have side fin complete for repair(look at pics) but other than that in great condition considering the age. I have the trophy and newspaper article somewhere so i will do my best to locate. This was caught on an Erie Dearie(red and white) when Lake Erie Walleye fishing was at its best. This walleye is real and is 26 inches long and has a 16 inch girth. It has beautiful colors and will brighten up any wall in that special room. This mount has the standard hanger on the back for a nail or screw and it also has 2 wires which can be bent out and they can go through holes in a piece of driftwood to be secured that way if desired. I have never seen this type of fish before so did some research and found information on the fish which I have pasted at the bottom of the description. The former owner said that this fish was caught in the Ottawa River approximately 50 years ago. The Gar Pike measures approximately 31 inches from the tip of the beak along the curve of its body to the tip of the tail fin. Or about 29 inches long from the tip of the beak on a straight line to the tip of the tail fin; the pine board is 32 inches long x 9 inches high and has two metal eyes for hanging. It has a great look and appears to be in very good condition. Definitely a conversation piece with ... moreits unusual needlenose beak! Gars are called“living fossils” because nearly all their relatives are extinct. They were abundant in Europe during the Tertiary or the first period of the Cenozoic but. Before the close of that period, which embraced approximately 58 million years measured by radio-activity, they became extinct in Europe, and the family is now exclusively North American in its distribution. Gars are distinguished by their slender cylindrical bodies. Their thin, long jaws which are produced forward into a beak, and by the more or less diamond-shaped scales that cover the body. The jaws are armed with sharp teeth. Longnose gar(Lepisosteus osseus) is the accepted common name of the fish but billfish and gar pike are also used. It has a very elongated and subcylindrical body. It is very detailed with shades of grey& the beautiful pink stripe down the side. Sharp teeth and fins. It has some minor paint chipping under the mouth, minor repair needed to tiny fins and could use a good cleaning. Has solid mounting on the back. This is a nice looking vintage largemouth bass taxidermy mount. It measures about 20" in length. And the real skin was used in the mount. There is a small crack on the top of the head area(pictured) which appears to have been repaired at some point and is barely noticeable. There is also a mark on the side of the gill area(pictured) I'm not sure if that was on the live fish or not, it's minor but still worth mentioning. But still taped together with the tape that taxidermists use on the back of the fins(see pics) It really isn't that noticeable once it is hung. The bass is between 19" and 20" Tough to get an accurate measurement with the curvature of the mount. Comes with the driftwood and wall hanger. When this bass was caught it was a really yellow color as it is in the mount. It is not discoloration from age. It would be great for a cabin or man cave. This Beautiful Trout measures 23 1/2 from nose to tail in the current arched mount. The fish if measured along the body with the curve is 25" long A very thick bull of a fish that protrudes at most 11" off the wall when hung The natural driftwood base measures about 22" from top to bottom As you can see the fish has split some on the back but it is not visible when hung I decided to leave it as is rather than repair with fiberglass or bondo like I have seen on ebay before. The tail has some minor wear from storage The fins are all solid but one of the back(Back meaning toward the wall. It is the front pectoral closest to the wall) fins has some crackling around base.
