I have replaced the cam and pinion gears with new/used ones I installed a new bearing and bail assembly along with a new bail spring. All parts were striped and repainted. Tibor Freestone Reel - Satin Gold Finish - Near Mint Condition
This auction is for a Tibor Freestone Fly Reel in Tibor's standard satin gold finish. The reel is loaded with 20 lb. backing and a Scientific Anglers Mastery Saltwater WF-7-F line. It has been fished but is in near mint condition(the only mark that I see on the reel is a small"ding" to the main shaft cap screw(see picture number 3) The reel is set up as right-hand retrieve but is user-convertible to left-hand retrieve. As shown in the pictures. The name plate has my wife's name on it(Tibor's website shows that a replacement name plate costs $21, including engraving) The auction also includes the Tibor parts diagram and the original Tibor neoprene reel flap pouch. I am the original owner of the reel and my home is smoke-free. South Bend 59-9, 9 ft. Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod 1122 SB Reel With 2 Rod Tips MINT
Up for auction is the great South Bend model 59-9 bamboo fly rod with the base. Center and two top sections/tips. The rods are all in very good condition with no problems to the guides, tips or wraps. It appears that it has not been used or barely used and put away years ago. The cork section looks almost new, and appears to have no missing chunks. It still has the original foil label and looks good. Everything appears to be original with no repairs. I have attempted to describe this rod set to the best of my abilities and knowledge, but please look at the pictures to make your own judgement of condition. The walnut fore-grip and reel are 10" long making the total length of this unique combo 44 inches. The reel is stamped on the bottom serial# 70918A. The reel is in very nice overall condition and everything on the reel functions as it should. There is a nice warm patina on the walnut wooden handle grips. Coxe designed and built big game reel made by Joe Coxe in Los Angeles California. This extremely well made big game reel was the finest in its day. The Abercrombie& Fitch catalog sold both Edward and Julius Vom Hofe reels along with Coxe reels in their 1930 salt water fishing catalog and the prices were as follows: Julius Vom Hofe 9/0 reel- $ 95.00 Edward Vom Hofe 9/0 reel- $ 95.00 J. A. Coxe 9/0 reel- $15 0.00 The price of the Coxe reel not only reflected its high quality but also is the reason you just don't see many of them around today. They were built far stronger then the Vom Hofe reels and the gearing is far superior. This nice example is in very good+ condition. The reel has aged nicely and has a warm ... morepatina. The foot has been bent so that the reel sits up higher on the rod. Let me start with a quick history of how we discovered this amazing reel. We live in Madison. Indiana. Our home and barn are located on the banks of the Indian-Kentuck Creek and the Ohio River. In researching the reel we have dated our home to the early 1830's. From that point the court house records get little harder to follow. Our house by todays standards would be considered median size, however in the 1830's, from our research, it would have been considered large and possibly owned by a more affluent family. We inherited the homestead from my husbands family over 25 years ago along with the barn and all of its contents. About 18months ago, we decided to start going through several old wooden boxes, including some old ammunition boxes. In one of the boxes we found several antique wood working tools and this heavy, grungy looking ... morefishing reel. I grew up fishing and hunting with my dad so I loved the look and feel of this reel immediately! You could just tell there was something special about this reel. I wiped off a little bit of the dirt and then started doing my research. Let me start by saying this reel is not perfect. You will see by the pictures and the description. That there are some issues with this reel. However, I have spent about the last 18 months working with a top authority in Meek reels and Kentucky reels in order to give you as accurate of a description of this reel as I could, its history, and its possible value. The reel has been described as"museum quality" and"historically important and very valuable" AS IS" and due to its age alone. The suggested starting price"as is" was $10.000. If you are seriously looking at this auction, I'm assuming that you already know the type of reel I'm offering and already have some knowledge of its history and value. Basic Description: JF& BF Meek began were jewelers/watchmakers that began hand making these amazing reels ca. 1837. This reel dates to around 1840 give or take. This reel is a very early model.

The box is in great condition for cardboard over 50 years old and the reel looks in remarkable shape as well with the exception of the broken handle which can easily be glued back for display purposes. They are both remind me of a simpler time: walking down to the fishing hole with an American made classic over my shoulder whistling away. Oh wait that’s Mayberry RFD oh well you get the picture.
