Unusual Bacon & Day # 9007 Style A Super Banjo Trap Door Resonator *Original*
Interesting and apparently rare early 1920's B&D banjo in nice all original'time capsule' condition. It has been safely stored and untouched for decades. I've searched the world over for another like it but to no avail. Could not find another on the web or in past auction catalogs. As you can see it's in beautiful condition. It has not been cleaned,dusted,polished, or restrung. You see it just as it was found. The original case is only in fair condition, handle is intact, latches work. Lots of very old string packets were in the case. The'trap door' is a fitted carved panel with a small knob for easy removal. It's marked"The Bacon" on the decorative metal plate opposite the knob. It fits precisely in a specific orientation and is lined o n the rim with felt. The tuners and tailpiece are Grover ... morePat.Pend. I think you can see everything else in the photos. Neck looks great. The nickle plated hardware shows some wear. I see no evidence of damage or repair anywhere on the instrument. I'm not a banjo player so can't comment regarding too many specifics.
