SUPERB ANTIQUE FISHING GAFF 1900 vintage rod reel creel This is an great VINTAGE FISHING GAFF(for lifting caught fish from the water) In my estimation it dates from around the late 19th/ early 20th Century. Circa 1900, but please make up your own mind about this. The gaff measures approx 29 inches(740mm) long extended. Or 16 1/2 inches(420mm) long closed up, and is made from brass and steel, with a turned mahogany handle. It is in good original condition with light wear consistent with its age. But no damage or repairs. The hook extends and retracts smoothly. And is complete with its screw on point guard. This is a fine example of its type and it would make a great addition to any collection. Please see the photos for condition and type. weight approx 330 grammes. Antique Primitive Fishing gaff bee hive wood handle make due
The antique/ vintage fishing gaff is made of what may have been an old fishing pole end with a bee hive grip and a large fish hook. The overall length is 29.75 inches and the hook is 5.25 long and opening between point and shaft is 1.75 inches The hook is attached with a large screw and heavy wire wraped around the end the wood has some wear with a chip out of the end and a split on the hive interesting old fishing equipment someone made out of what they had
