Vintage Wire Mesh Minnow Trap Size: 17 1/2" long x 9" in diameter in the center x 7" in diameter on the end. Constructed of galvanized 1/4" wire mesh with soldered seams and joints. Although it has surface rust. The worst is shown in photo#6, it is not rusted through anywhere. It has received a light cleaning, any additional will be left to the new owner. Vintage clasp still works as it should. One half of one end inlet cone is loose. The other half is still soldered to the frame. Inlet holes are approximately 7/8" 1" in diameter. Early glass ORVIS minnow trap with original wire holder and carrying handle. The white plastic screw-on cap with holes. I don't believe is original. It was acquired at an estate sale. The"ORVIS" on the front top is faint, I can also make out V.T. underneath and to the right of Orvis. The glass has bubbles and a top air vent hole depression. There are some chips and edge roughness on the screw opening as well as the rear minnow entry hole and some oxidation on the bottom of the wire holder. It is in good used condition. The glass is a little hazy. The trap has a little wear around the top of the jar where the cap screws on and at the bottom where the funnel bottom is located. It has no cracks. The metal cap is also in good condition, a little tarnished. The wire is a little tarnished, stained. The trap needs a cleaning. One end has a glass funnel that leads into the center of the jar from which the bait will swim into but then cant get out. The other end has a dull silver colored cap with holes in it where the air would escape and/or the water runs in while it is sinking(it is removeable.it unscrews) There is also a port hole in th side of the bottle. The glass container has an approximate measurement of 13 1/2 inches long and a 7 inch diameter. There is a metal end cover and a glass funnel on the opposite end. The top has a small hole to allow for air to escape when lowered into the water. The metal is in fair condition with one"leg" showing some damage. Vintage Glass C.F. Orvis Pig Style Bottle Jar Minnow Trap Wire Harness Excellent
Up for auction is a vintage C F Orvis glass minnow trap. It measures 13" long and stands 8 1/8" tall. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few light use scratches otherwise the glass is clean and clear. It has the original lid and the wire harness with handle is also in very good condition. There is no rust on the wire harness except there is a little on the feet. Vintage C. F. Orvis Glass Minnow Trap with Wire Bale Carrier and Metal Lid
Great Original Vintage C.F. Orvis Glass Minnow Trap with the Original Wire Bail Carrier. Made in Manchester VT. ~~ The front top is embossed C.F. Orvis Maker Manchester VT. I'm uncertain of exact year. But early 1900's. Measures 14" long x 8" wide x by 24" diameter. Has a metal screw on lid with a punched star symbol. And a wire bail carrier. I believe the trap was used some. But not much. No Cracks in the glass, no visible scratches, and very little signs of wear on the glass. There is a chip on the rim of the mouth where the lid screws on. Also, has a little wear and surface rust on the wire bail carrier. There has been no repairs, all parts are original.remarkable condition for its age. Great piece for a Vintage Fishing Gear Collection or Orvis Gear Collection. Thank you for looking!

very cool and interesting antique minnow trap. It is somewhat soiled from being used or stored for long period of time, it is solid and usable.It hah what looks like mildew, their are a little rust protruding through the fabric caused from the two hoop wires that holds it open, It just looks like a minnow trap that has been used a good bit. Vintage Egg-shaped Wire Minnow Trap (?) - Very Unusual & Rare!!!
Up for auction is a very unusual Item which is believed to be a Vintage or Antique Minnow Trap. We acquired this at an auction in Northwestern Pennsylvania- the auctioneer referred to it as an egg-shaped Minnow Trap and was sold with other fishing items. I am not an expert in regard to fishing items. So I'll leave it up to the experts to decide. It is made of tight wire mesh and is actually quite small- it measures approx. 6.75" long& 5" at it's widest point- I have included a picture of it next to a regular size water bottle for comparison to give an idea of it's smaller size. The opening on the end is 3/4" to 1" in diameter. When the latch is undone, it swings open on a hinge on the oppisite side. Please refer to photos as they are a huge part of the description.
