Vintage Taylor Fishing Guide Barometer Black Bakelite 1939 Oldest Style Face
You're invited to bid on this very old Taylor Fishing Barometer Guide. The barometer tells you the best time to fish according to air pressure and altitude. There is an altitude adjustment on the back. The case is made of black bakelite with metal on the back. The trim and handle are brass. Measures 3.5" across and 1.25" thick. This was copyrighted in 1939. and this particular one could be that old due to the face being the original(oldest) style. This instrument is in near-perfect condition. The only issue being a tiny crack in the bakelite at the 7 o'clock position in photo#1. It's barely visible, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention it. This item does work. Up for auction here are two vintage fishing accessories. A Langley Fisherman's DE- LIAR With A Weigh Scale& Tape Measure. The scale appears to work good& the tape measure appears to be in good condition& looks like stainless. And a Taylor Fishing Guide Barometer. I don't know how to use the barometer& I'm not certain if it works properly. I do know that when you move it around. The little needle floats back& forth showing that the spring appears to be good. There is a small rubber O ring in the middle of the dial on the outside under the lttle knob that has dry rotted& probably shoud be replaced. The case appears to be bakelite& measures 3 1/4" in dia.
