This is a nice vintage cricket tube. This is a half tube size wire mesh cricket tube with steel bottom and screw on lid. The upper funnel is aluminum with a cork stopper and retainer string. 2 1/2" diameter. 6 1/2" overall length. This vintage bait tube is in great condition. Nothing damaged or broken. There is some rust and loss of finish on the steel bottom and cap. Overall condition is very good. This old cricket tube will make a great addition to any vintage fishing collection. Note the pattern of the perforated holes in all four corners are precise and a definite pattern. It has slight dings, scuffs and marks from use over the years. Vintage Old 1920's Fishing Bait Grasshopper Cricket Hopper Bottle A. Heuel RARE!
This HOPPER BOTTLE was made in the 1920's by A. HEUEL. It's purpose was to contain live fishing bait such as crickets or grasshoppers. It's made of metal and has the original cork stopper. It measures 6 1/4" long. A pair of U-shaped legs 5/8" x 1 1/2" are soldered to one side of the bottle. Their purpose is two-fold. To keep the bottle in a horizontal position and off the ground to allow more mobility for the bait and also the angler could wear it on his belt to keep it handy. Embossed on the bottom of the bottle is: A. HEUEL PAT. PEND. HOPPER BOTTLE TRADEMARK MILWAUKEE. WIS. I would describe this piece to be in overall VERY GOOD condition considering its age. I am offering for auction a vintage Falls City metal bait box that was made to be used while wearing a belt. It has 2 belt loops on the back and is curved so that it can be worn comfortably on your side. It has a hinged lid that is vented. This item is in good used condition and could use a good cleaning. There are some dents and dings in it here and there and a portion of the front label is missing. I believe that it is made of aluminum. As there are a few spots of paint missing on the bottom and you can see a shiny metal. It measures about 6" in width and is about 1-7/8" in overall height. Then released at the tip via a spring controlled finger release. The diameter is three inches. There is still an advertisement for"The Fisherman's Friend" May Industries Inc. Troy, Alabama with drawing of a cricket. An interesting addition for the fishing afficionado's collection or anyone interested in it as an object! Probably dates from the 1930s or 1940s.

The hood doesn't line up with the eye because the screw that holds the hook in has shifted) nice weathered wood with blue/gray looking weathered paint or stain on the ends It measures approx. 8.5" long x 5.75" tall and 5.25" deep Fun old piece for display. Please scroll down under this description for additional views. 5 1/2" square. 7" high Kleer-Vue cricket box made by Southern Manufacturing Co. of Duluth, Georgia. Metal collar can be raised or lowered flush with the wooden top of the box. Movable wire bale handle not sure if handle is correct for peroid. It is a simple but clever little gizmo. Ours does show wear and age but is still solid and would display nicely. I think it would make a really cool lantern with a candle in it.
