The original owner who lived in Alaska during the 50s and 60s told me this very old trident was found somewhere in northern Alaska in the mid 60s while prospecting for gold. It was found about 30 feet from the edge of a river. Sorry. I do not know the name of the river. It is about 9" tall by just under 6" wide by about 1/2" thick on the stem and gradually gets thinner as you near the points. It weighs in at just under a pound at around 15 ounces. Antique / Vintage Ice Fishing Spear 80" Long All Original 5 Barbed Tines Spear
Up for auction we offer this simply wonderful antique or vintage(everybody has different terminology so let's just say it's really old OK? 5 Tine ice fishing spear in what we consider good condition given it's age. We've examined it fairly closely but find no stamp or mark crediting a particular maker. I bet you could clean it up some and catch with it as it is. That said this is an old spear and the wood hasn't seen oil in years and there is a light coat of rust on the tines. Some steel wool would remedy that though as you surely know. As it sits right now it's 80" from bottom end to tine tips but it looks like it could be extended since at the base there is a metal tube with a screw and this looks like a way to extend or add something to the spear. The handle has been friction taped about 3 quarters of the way ... moreup. Do not miss your chance to own this great fishing tool. These just don't come up that often and are more than tools they're pieces of fishing history! You've seen the prices and similar spears in lesser condition have been commanding several hundred dollars and more. We're going to have to custom make the shipping box but it will ship in corrugated and we'll make sure the tines are covered so no harm will come to anyone handling it during shipping. Antique/Vintage Ice Fishing Eel Gig Gigger Frog Spear 5 Tine Prong Folk Art
Up for auction is an antique/vintage fishing gig that belonged to my dad. My dad used it in the 1930's or 40's so I know it is very old. I'm not sure if it was originally this color or if he repainted it. If he repainted it. It must have been done a very long time ago because it has that great vintage green color. The tines are 3- 4 1/4 inches long(the middle one being 3" and the outer ones 4" to 4 1/2" The handle that it was attached to is long gone but I'm sure it could easily be added. It would make a great display item with other antiques or folk art. I'm not interested in fishing so it's time to pass it on. Up for auction is a vintage frog gig spear on a 51" bamboo pole. The spear and pole are both in wonderful condition. The pole has the spear at one end and a metal butt on the other. There is slight rust on the spear itself and very light surface rust on the metal butt. The butt is 2" long and hollow until the next break in the cane about 3/8" in. The spear is about 5&3/4" long and the tines seem to still be pretty sharp. Be sure to check out all the pictures and my other vintage sporting listings. I am showing this Vintage Iron Fishing Gig Spear Head that may be Hand forged. It may have been used for fishing. Eel, frogs. It is very primitive. The piece is approx. 10" high and approx. 5 1/2" wide at the widest part. It is in good used condition. It has some light surface rust and dings. I would say it is very old.
