APPEARS TO BE HAND BLOWN GLASS MINNOW TRAP (PROBABLY FRENCH)
This item is what I believe is a handblown(tooling marks and bubbles in the glass) glass minnow trap. It looks similar to some French traps. But I could not find one just like this. The metal parts have a finsh that looks like what used to be called Japanning, and there is little or no corrosion. I don't think this item was ever used, and was stored in a dry environment. There may be use marks or other flaws that have to do with age and use that one can reasonably expect-any major flaws that I detect will be descibed. All items are sold AS/IS. Early glass ORVIS minnow trap with original wire holder and carrying handle. The white plastic screw-on cap with holes. I don't believe is original. It was acquired at an estate sale. The"ORVIS" on the front top is faint, I can also make out V.T. underneath and to the right of Orvis. The glass has bubbles and a top air vent hole depression. There are some chips and edge roughness on the screw opening as well as the rear minnow entry hole and some oxidation on the bottom of the wire holder. It is in good used condition. The glass is a little hazy. The trap has a little wear around the top of the jar where the cap screws on and at the bottom where the funnel bottom is located. It has no cracks. The metal cap is also in good condition, a little tarnished. The wire is a little tarnished, stained. The trap needs a cleaning. A very nice condition Camp glass minnow trap made in Checota. Oklahoma. It has the original lid and there are no cracks or chips in the glass. There are imperfections in the glass(bubbles-waves-visible mold lines etc. from the blowing process as you would expect for these. The top is rough as you can see in the picture and this also is typical of these minnow traps. Overall a very nice piece to collect-display or use as it was intended. Shipping will be $12.90. BALL GLASS MINNOW TRAP 1960's (Very Rare) with Box "Fisherman's Insurance"
The Ball Minnow Trap The Fishermans Insurance The Ball minnow traps were all made by Ball Bros. Okmulgee. Oklahoma around 1960. There were about 1000 of them made. All were clear gallon glass jars with the regular 2-piece Ball Mason canning lid with five holes punched in it. There are some mason jar traps with the larger opening, like a mayonnaise jar, and I think these were made by glass factory employees for personal use. Up for auction is a vintage C F Orvis glass minnow trap. It measures 13" long and stands 8 1/8" tall. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There are a few light use scratches otherwise the glass is clean and clear. It has the original lid and the wire harness with handle is also in very good condition. There is no rust on the wire harness except there is a little on the feet. THIS WONDERFUL ANTIQUE HAND MADE MINNOW TRAP WAS USED FOR MANY YEARS. IT MEASURES ABOUT 13" LONG. IS ABOUT 9" WIDE AND IS ABOUT 8" HIGH. THIS MINNOW TRAP HAS A WIRE WRAPPED HANDLE AND'O' SHAPED FEET. THE LID IS COPPER. THERE IS A CRACK IN THE GLASS FROM ALL THE WEAR AND TEAR BUT THE GLASS REMAINS FIRM AND INTACT. THERE ARE THREE SEAMS IN THE GLASS AND AT LEAST ONE BUBBLE IN THE GLASS. Vintage C. F. Orvis Glass Minnow Trap with Wire Bale Carrier and Metal Lid
Great Original Vintage C.F. Orvis Glass Minnow Trap with the Original Wire Bail Carrier. Made in Manchester VT. ~~ The front top is embossed C.F. Orvis Maker Manchester VT. I'm uncertain of exact year. But early 1900's. Measures 14" long x 8" wide x by 24" diameter. Has a metal screw on lid with a punched star symbol. And a wire bail carrier. I believe the trap was used some. But not much. No Cracks in the glass, no visible scratches, and very little signs of wear on the glass. There is a chip on the rim of the mouth where the lid screws on. Also, has a little wear and surface rust on the wire bail carrier. There has been no repairs, all parts are original.remarkable condition for its age. Great piece for a Vintage Fishing Gear Collection or Orvis Gear Collection. Thank you for looking!

This great old trap is in excellent condition with no cracks or brakes. When you take off the front cap the inner edge around the opening looks like is chipped up. But this may have happened during the production process. You are unable to see this when the end cap is in placed. It is marked C.F. ORVIS MAKER MANCHESTER. VT. in raised letters on the top. This great original glass minnow trap would make an excellent addition to any collection and will display very well. This item is in as found condition and has not been cleaned.
