Early glass ORVIS minnow trap with original wire holder and carrying handle. The white plastic screw-on cap with holes. I don't believe is original. It was acquired at an estate sale. The"ORVIS" on the front top is faint, I can also make out V.T. underneath and to the right of Orvis. The glass has bubbles and a top air vent hole depression. There are some chips and edge roughness on the screw opening as well as the rear minnow entry hole and some oxidation on the bottom of the wire holder. Very cool vintage minnow trap. This is one of the earlier ones that had a swivel type door on it rather than the later lids that screwed on. Vintage C. F. Orvis Glass Minnow Trap with Wire Bale Carrier and Metal Lid
Great Original Vintage C.F. Orvis Glass Minnow Trap with the Original Wire Bail Carrier. Made in Manchester VT. ~~ The front top is embossed C.F. Orvis Maker Manchester VT. I'm uncertain of exact year. But early 1900's. Measures 14" long x 8" wide x by 24" diameter. Has a metal screw on lid with a punched star symbol. And a wire bail carrier. I believe the trap was used some. But not much. No Cracks in the glass, no visible scratches, and very little signs of wear on the glass. There is a chip on the rim of the mouth where the lid screws on. Also, has a little wear and surface rust on the wire bail carrier. There has been no repairs, all parts are original.remarkable condition for its age. Great piece for a Vintage Fishing Gear Collection or Orvis Gear Collection. Thank you for looking!
