This eel spear is well made and looks like it has plenty of age. The handle has been shortened and one tine is a little short. But everything else is fine. The length including the handle is 31" and the width at the spear tip is 3 7/8" A nice one and 100% guaranteed.

EXC Large Antique H D Fordham Sag Harbor Eel Gig Fish Spear
This old"SAG HARBOR" spear is in excellent condition! Cleaning revealed no cracks or repairs. The points are extremely sharp. It appears to be hand worked. Nothing is loose. There are no chips. It's just exceptional. It's 10 1/4" wide across the tines which is substantially larger than an otherwise identical one I once had. That smaller spear had two less tines. That one was marked"H D FORDHAM" but I don't see that on this one. I assume it's the same maker given the common markings of"SAG HARBOR" and nearly identical form(minus the extra tines) It's 16" long overall. All hand forged iron spear with a great deal of character. Having a crude looking furl and tab collar, rough looking finish and heavy duty construction. A 28" long spear with narrow 4" wide head, having three saw tooth edged tines and curved shoulders brazed to the handle. In excellent condition. Appears to be mid to late 19th century. Vintage ice fishing spear/ trident. Carp. Eel, muskie, sturgeon, frog, fish spear with 7 barbed prongs. Measures 54" tall and the spear end measures approximately 6 3/4" wide. The prongs are welded to the shaft. I did not see a makers mark. Rusty in spots and the prongs are bent a little. The rod is also bent, so it really isn't good for anything but display. Great piece. Offered is an old iron or steel 5-pronged fishing spear or gig. It resembles a Fairbanks. And there is unreadable lettering on one of the shanks, but I'm calling it'unknown maker of unknown age. It came from an estate near the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers and was likely used for turtling or spearing rough fish. The spear is about 5 inches across the prongs and about 15 inches in overall length. It weighs about 1 pound. 2 ounces. The spear shows evidence of hand-forging, but the socket is electrically welded. That socket is somewhat out of round. There's a bit of surface roughness from old corrosion. It's a heavy, well-made tool. If I were going to use it, I'd sharpen the tips. I've posted lots of pictures so you can look it over. Winner pays for USPS Priority in the USA. Here's an Early/ Antique Spear of some sort. It is Iron or Steel and has visible signs of having been hand forged. It is 7 1/8th inches long by 1 3/4 inches across the wings on the spear tip. I imagine this was intended for Fishing. Frogging, or Eeeling? Unless it is older than I imagine, then perhaps it was originally used in some sort of battle, but I don't know, I am not an authority. I know it is Old, You be the judge.

Antique/Vintage Ice Fishing Eel Gig Gigger Frog Spear 5 Tine Prong Folk Art
Up for auction is an antique/vintage fishing gig that belonged to my dad. My dad used it in the 1930's or 40's so I know it is very old. I'm not sure if it was originally this color or if he repainted it. If he repainted it. It must have been done a very long time ago because it has that great vintage green color. The tines are 3- 4 1/4 inches long(the middle one being 3" and the outer ones 4" to 4 1/2" The handle that it was attached to is long gone but I'm sure it could easily be added. It would make a great display item with other antiques or folk art. I'm not interested in fishing so it's time to pass it on. From like articles I've seen. I'm saying this might be a fishing spear, maybe an eel or frog spear, but note the lyre shape, have not seen one like this, most prongs are straight out, some even splay a bit outwards, you'd think the inward pointing tips would slow down fish grabbering, but maybe not. I dunno, might be a cultivator or potato spear, maybe something else, note all prongs are square down their length. Pound and a half, dimensions are 10.5 inches, by 7.5, note one of the barbs looks worn down, otherwise perfect display, nice and tight, great antique cast iron surface and patina. Powered by

The 6 outer tines are made from 3 long square pieces forged and shaped to bend through a rectangular space in the large center iron bar which is one piece from the tine to the handle pole mounting. There are small barbs on the tines and there are remains of the original green paint. Antique Ideal Forged Iron & Bronze Clam Rake Eel Spear Design 11 Tines
This is a super-nice. Lightly used, old Ideal Co. Clam Rake. I'm not an expert on these by any means, but I'm pretty sure that it's an early production Ideal. Many of the Ideals have the name embossed on the bronze handle insert. This one has only the"I" It is in great condition, and appears to be very lightly used, if even used at all. There is no corrosion of the bronze, and only surface rust on the tines. It is about 14" in length overall, and about 10" wide. These old rakes were made much like the old eel spears of the era. The forged iron tines are fitted through the bronze and then set with silver solder. This is a super display piece for the collector, and if you were waiting for a nice one to come along, this is it. I am showing this Vintage Iron Fishing Gig Spear Head that may be Hand forged. It may have been used for fishing. Eel, frogs. It is very primitive. The piece is approx. 10" high and approx. 5 1/2" wide at the widest part. It is in good used condition. It has some light surface rust and dings. I would say it is very old. This will be a great display piece or could be used. You are buying this as it is. If you have any question, please ask before bidding. I will combine shipping. Large 18th Century English Eel Spear
Likely from the 18th century. Or earlier, this spear measures 12 5/8” in length, with unusual cut outs. Thick forged iron with a rolled handle and hand cut barbs. In excellent condition with overall light pitting. Possibly polished with light varnish. As always I am happy to answer questions and provide additional photos. Rare Ca.1900 Spring Action Danish Double Eel Spear
A double headed spring activated Danish eel spear dating back to the early 1900's. With menacing looking spear heads, each with three wide iron tines, all having serrated edges. The outer tines are spring activated- they spread open when pressure is applied between the tines- such that they"open" to accommodate a larger eel! The entire assembly is about 23" tall. With the tines measuring just about 15" in length. A very unique looking spear from Europe, in very good condition, with minor surface rust.
