The reel is in its original condition as I found it. There are a few scuff/scratch marks on the reel. But nothing major like dents or cracks. I would recomend a paint job, but the reel is soild, make a great clicking noise and has the"Pfoot drag ratchet" attached to the spool(some 1498 reels do not have this) The pictures will help you decide for yourself the condition of the rod. Let's talk about the elephant in the room: Yes, these are Winston rods; and, no, they are not made in Winston's Twin Bridges, Montana, factory. However, the Vapors are fine, mid-price fly rods built to Winston's high quality and performance standards. Sporting a metallic olive-green finish and surprisingly nice components for the price, the Vapors look good out of the tube. On the water, the 81/2-foot, 5-weight I tried this past fall ... morehad a moderate-to-fast action without being overly stiff. The rod cast particularly well at short- to medium distances. A strong headwind coming off the lake thwarted my attempts to cleanly lay out any casts with real distance, but for a 5-weight the rod performed quite well even under these 6- to 7-weight conditions. Unique 6 piece, 5 weigth, 9 foot, TFO Lefty Kreh Professional Series Travel Rod
This TFO Lefty Kreh Professional Series 1 rod is unique in that it was the only 9 foot. 6 piece rod made by TFO. I've included the original brochure showing that it was offered in a 5 wt. 6 wt. 8wt. 9 foot rod. It is also is the only rod made by TFO that came with a factory logo rod case. Great travel or backup rod. Comes with a TFO cordura canvas covered rod case that is only 22 3/4" in length. Case also has a carrying strap. Rod's action is medium/fast and if fishing inside of 40 feet it performs better with a 6 weight line. I used this rod as a backup and fished with it very little. I remember one full day using it. But I probably used it a couple of other times. The rod is perfect with the exception the cork is not perfectly clean like a new one. I never filled out the warranty card. I do not think it matters. For $25, TFO ... morewill fix any TFO rod or provide a new one in the event of breakage. While TFO rods are a value priced item. And will never be a SAGE, WINSTON or other high end rod, this one has some uniqueness that might be attractive to someone.
