Cortland 9ft 8/9 wt 2pc Rod and Reel Combo
Up for sale is my Cortland Steelhead Rod and Reel Combination. The rod is a 9 foot 8/9 weight 2 piece manufactured by Cortland. The reel is also manufactured by Cortland. It is a CLX IV Cassette Reel. It is easily adjusted from left to right hand retrieve by following the instructions in the owners manual which is included. The reels drag is very smooth and adjusts from very light to truck stopping strong. The reel comes loaded with backing and an 8 weight floating fly line. The fly line is weight forward for easy casting of big flies and is in very good condition. The rod has some good mojo going for it as you can see by the pictures of some of the fish it has landed. It accounted for helping me land all five species of pacific salmon including king. Chum, pink, red and silvers while fishing in Alaska. It also accounted for a 7 pound brown ... morefrom a Lake Ontario tributary. Also included is the rod tube which protected my rod on my various excursions. It is a Cabelas double rod tube which will fit two rods up to nine feet in length. Both the rod and reel are in very good condition. Need some extra money so sadly it is time to part ways. Offered for bid is a used Shakespeare FY 12-R. 8'0" fiberglass fly rod for#7/8 line, and a Shakespeare Omni 33 reel. The reel has a"Made in China" sticker on the foot, and the rod has a worn sticker on the butt, that, I think, says"Made in Korea" Other than signs of normal usage, the only damage I can see is at the larger/bottom end of the center rod section has had about 1/2" cut off, and no longer has a rubber plug in the end, see 3rd photo) The overall length is now 95 1/2" All the guides are straight and tight, as is the tip and the hook keeper. The lower most guide has a ceramic insert. The fiberglass rod is chocolate brown in color, with a slightly darker banding used for the guides, with white painted trim. The Shakespeare lettering, etc. is gold. The reel shows moderate corrosion- cosmetic only- ... moreworks great. Drag adjustment operates easily and smoothly. No line is included. There is a small lever on the left side of the"Shakespeare Omni" name-plate(best seen in photo#8) that I have no idea what it does. TFO BVK IV fly reel and TFO BVK 12wt. 9'0" 4pc fly rod. TFO BVK IV fly reel with approx 250+yrds of backing and 12wt SA intermediate sink tip fly line. Right or left handed retrieve. Set up for LH retrieve now. Used only one Tarpon season. Great condition. I'd say a 8/10. Couple minor boat scuff marks that show wear but that's all. Ill try and get a picture of the scuffs. Retail new is $299.99 + approx $100+ backing and fly line. TFO BVK 12wt. 9'0" 4pc rod. This rod is stiff enough to sling the 12wt line but fast enough to place the fly wherever you want it.
